Am I the only one who does not want Stitch to open?

I think we've reached the maximum limit for defunct ride jokes in a single thread. Sorry. :p

The entire time I was planning this trip I was hoping and hoping that it would take them longer to open Stitch just so I could hear "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow....."

I hear it's not opening until November. I'm not ashamed to say I did a little Happy Dance about it.

I AM, however, annoyed that the Shootin' Range in Frontierland is going to be down! How dare they?!?!?

I was really pleased to see CoP open the last weekend in January, this past year. I hadn't gotten my hopes up to see it as I knew it was seasonal -- but there it was, open on a mighty slow day.

I got a smile from the defunct ride jokes.;)

I've posted a few times about this also. I was very happy to see that Stitch was delayed so we could see CoP again. I've also missed it because our trips have been in the fall. I'm sure my kids don't remember much of it because they were pretty young when we saw it (probably May 2001). I would like to see Timekeeper again also. I think I saw it in 2000 and haven't seen the ride open on our trips since.

Although I agree that those of us that are frequent visitors to the World's find the "defunct" ride jokes cute, there is also a group that might fail to see the humor in all of it.

They would be the people that come to these boards with a genuine desire to get information about the Disney parks. It must be pretty frustrating to ask a serious question and then receive an answer, written as if serious, that is bogus and misinforming. Cute for us, frustrating for them.

To answer the original post...CoP has been listed as "seasonal" for at least two years. They opened it full time when they closed down Alien Encounter, they also reopened Timekeeper, but not as regularly. This was done, probably, because otherwise there would hardly be anything to go into Futureworld to see. It has been rumored that both CoP and Timekeeper will bite the dust when Stitch opens.

Timekeeper appears to be the first to go because todays crowd is to lazy to stand for 10 minutes and watch a tremendous display of AA charactor performance, voiced by Robin Williams and CoP because it is old and needs to be rebuilt, mechanically it is giving out. I feel that the money should be spent to rebuild it. It was one of Walt Disneys original creations and is really, at least partially responsible, for the dark ride, AA venue that made Disney parks famous. Walt Disney is seen, on tape, in the q-line singing the theme song "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" with the Sherman Brothers.

Those of us that are fans of CoP hoped that the closure of Alien and the constant opening of CoP might breath new life into a great old classic. Everytime I was on it last March it was pretty full and many good comments could be heard. Let's hope that the message gets to the suits.

::yes::

Thanks for that wonderful commentary on TOMORROWland. I think that's what you meant when you said Futureworld. Perhaps you were confused, which can happen. I'd hate for any of our users get misinformed with bogus information. I've heard rumors that the new Disney park based on Walt's utopian dream - EPCOT, WILL have something called FutureWorld. God only knows if it'll make the final cut when EPCOT opens in a few years.

As far as answering the OP...I don't believe the OP even HAD a question. And if he or she did, it was certainly answered by the posts that immediately followed.

The shooting arcade is going to be down? What, when, and why?

As much as it hurts to say this...the CoP's time is up...I love all classic Disney stuff and would hate to lose that collection with something Walt had a hand in...but the last time I rode it it was sooooo dated....and frankly...kinda boring.

The one thing is that Walt Disney never intended the parks to be museums, and if he was around and had the chance to replace the CoP with something bigger and better--he would do it...

Besides--you don't need a ride to keep Walt's spirit in the parks...it's there every day!

But there are also as many, if not more, who do in fact know humor when they see it and enjoy it. If there is a "group" who does not see and enjoy humor, perhaps Walt Disney World is not the place they should be going to.
Lighten up.

I agree, a sense of humor IS important...especially when you are auditioning to become a new DIS moderator. (I didn't know there were openings - note to self: send in my application again)

But I STILL don't know why everyone's talking about "jokes" and sticking "tongues in cheeks" (whoa, isn't this is a family board?). The Skyway IS still there! I just took this photo last July:

I'm so glad to see there are still so many fans of "the old stuff"! I just really want my Dh to see CoP. Perhaps I was confused, but I just looked in the Unofficial Guide and it states that on CoP it is Walt's voice narrating and his voice singing! Is this incorrect?

CoP is one of my favorites. It is an oldie but goodie.

It was open last year in December, early December, when I went down.

You are correct that I had a brain cramp there and mistakenly said Futureworld instead of Tomorrowland but mine was just a mistake not a deliberate display of misinformation just to prove what a wonderfully developed sense of humor I had.

As you continue this, at best, lame joke it is getting less and less amusing and more and more childish. Continue if you must, but without me! Thanks! If this is what passes for a sense of humor, I am quite happy to be without one.

I have no idea why....but, I went to www.wdwig.com to check out the lastest info and it was listed as being closed for our entire trip. Stinks. I enjoyed it there. We're there from 9/24-10/4 and it's closed the entire time.

Maybe they're making it different...more interesting? Who knows. :(

Now, now fellow New Englanders. Play nice. We don't people from the rest of the country thinking that we are rude and obnoxious up here;)

I love the CoP and was very excited to ride it again this past August.

Timekeeper was nice, but the year of the time machine was still
on today: 2000. They could not have changed the date in 4 years???

Hi there fellow Massachusetts-ian...err..whatever we're called!! I think only one of us New Englanders has his undergarments in a bunch. Then again...Howard Dean is also from Vermont and I do recall him blowing a gasket or two. Maybe it's the water up there.

Now back to CoP....I can't think of anywhere other than on the TV monitors in the queue, which my astute, but angry friend from Vermont mentioned, where Walt's voice can be heard. Where else would it be?

What are you talking about. We were there in April and it was not there. Nothing in regards to it. It would be nice though.

Great, now the CoP has "disappeared" too.

Don't worry, it's easy to miss. It's the rotating building that's shaped like a giant hockey puck, opposite the People Mover entrance. Or were you referring to the Frontierland Shooting Gallery....or it's a small world...or the Skyway, all of which have been mentioned here.
