Am I the only one underwhelmed by the Mine Train?

I'm amazed that people will stand for hours to go on this, i can maybe understand if it was Forbidden Journey or Gringotts.

I won't wait for hours to go on ANY ride. And that includes FJ (have yet to ride Gringotts)

It's cute, but worth any of the hype. I put it on par with the Barnstormer...I'll ride if there's little wait, but otherwise it's skippable.

We thought it was cute, but we probably wouldn't go on it again unless the line was short. We had 2 FP+ scheduled for 2 different days and canceled the second one after riding so someone else could use them. I didn't hate it, just didn't feel the need to ride it again. I'll be trying to get fast passes for my group going in June, though, because none of them have gone on it and at least one is a Snow White fan. I think it's nice for kids and for people who don't like heights and thrill rides.

As much as I hate to say it, Universal is handily beating Disney when it comes to combining high tech and a fulfilling ride experience.

I hate to say it too, I really do. But we went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and.....wow.

I mean, compare:

Shrek to Mickey's Philharmagic
Spider Man or Transformers to Star Tours
Men in Black to Buzz Lightyear
The Mummy to Dinosaur
Terminator to ???
Forbidden Journey to Little Mermaid (okay, that's not fair - how about Soarin? Naw, The Simpson's ride was better)
And on and on.......

I hope at least part of Disney's motivations are to match or do better than those.

I was pleasantly surprised. Probably b/c I knew it was "between Barnstormer and BTMRR", and b/c I knew it was a short ride.

I really liked the "swivel" cars--the car design allowed for a twisty "rock left / rock right" in the track design.

Wasn't looking for major thrills, so the hills had more oomph than I'd expected (and we had just ridden BTM 4 times in a row that morning).

Plus the new-style animatronics inside.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs deserve better. Even Scary Adventures had bigger thrills. And you can't even see into the cottage at the end unless it's a dreary day or at night. The attraction should have ended by going THROUGH the cottage, imo, with the Evil Queen/Old Hag outside to provide one last BOO!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs deserve better. Even Scary Adventures had bigger thrills. And you can't even see into the cottage at the end unless it's a dreary day or at night. The attraction should have ended by going THROUGH the cottage, imo, with the Evil Queen/Old Hag outside to provide one last BOO!

I am on the opposite side of this. After reading so many negative things about the ride I was pleasantly surprised on how good it was. It helped having low expectations.

I wouldn't say I was underwhelmed. But I'm glad I had a FP+ for it & I would never wait hours to ride it. In all fairness to the ride, there isn't much I would wait hours to ride.

I've been looking extensively online to try to find out the exact duration of the ride from launch to the end. I've found times listed from 92 seconds to 3.5 minutes. So does anyone have the accurate exact duration time and not just a guesstimate?

I know it's relatively short, and that's one reason I felt a little underwhelmed by the attraction. On the other hand, we did ride it several times while we were there on our recent trip during Christmas week (only with a FP or very late at night when queue was really short), so I guess we found it worth doing more than once. Wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes for it though. We saw posted wait times on Christmas day of 180 minutes, when the line stretched all the way back to Dumbo.

I thought the interior mine scene was very well done, but the rest of the ride, meh. Overall, it's not even in the same galaxy as Splash Mountain for thrills or theming.

It was 3.5 minutes the first time we rode it...because it stalled in the middle of the mine...otherwise it is about 90 seconds.

AS for the Universal attractions...haven't ridden them, but they do sound to be a bit more what I would like to see from WDW. They aren't "thrill rides" like Six Flags seems to only build now (rides that are only there to make you lose your lunch) but a nice middle of the road...Disney's have recently all been focused on "all ages" including toddlers...I get it, back in the 90's they were building the coasters and more thrilling rides (ToT RNR MS)...then they went to the moderate thrills with TT, Soarin and EE...and since, I think it has all been tame rides, TSMM, LM, 7DMT, and next up, the Frozen ride. While sure, those are ok rides none of them are really worth a repeat ride during a trip (clearly not including the Frozen ride in that assessment as we don't know how fun it will be)

I thought it was more fun than the new Little Mermaid ride (I had much higher expectations for one of my favorite Disney movies) or the classic Peter Pan ride and far better than It's a Small World or Dumbo. It was my 8 year old's favorite ride. It's not a thrilling coaster, but a fun family ride. (Well, except for the head banging on the hard headrest problem.)

I wish the park would make some other rides a tad more exciting and have a few more Star Tours type rides. That and Big Thunder Mountain are my favorites.

yeah Story time with Belle is a 1 time deal, Dumbo is just another spinning ride like triceratops spin, magic carpets of aladdin etc, so very boring, the Casey Junior area is ok but really who wants to get soaked mid day and walk around wet for the afternoon, the Ariel ride is severely lacking, if they just added bubbles to the dancing room it would be so much more immersive, and 7 dwarves mine train is just too short.

We're DVC members but find ourselves going to Universal more often than Disney now. Too much nonsense involved with Disney now and I'm not interested in micromanaging every second of my vacation. Ride-wise, I totally agree: Universal blows Disney out of the water.

To read about it on here and the way FP+ go, I'd think it was the second coming.

Well, I had a FP+ for this past Friday and rode it. It was cute, don't get me wrong, but I don't get all the hype about it. I'd do it again with a FP+ (wouldn't kill myself to get it though) or if the wait was maybe 20 minutes, but definitely not the 70 minutes we saw and definitely not setting an alarm clock to get up at midnight to book one again IMHO (I happened to randomly wake up the day my window opened so I booked it with all these second coming sunbeams streaming from it).

So am I the only one who rode it and basically thought "Meh"?

I cant judge 7DMT yet but I felt that way about TSMM. I still skip it because I just was not that impressed and I don't get why everyone loves it so much. But I love Buzz and Dinosaur so I am weird anyway.
Im not getting up at 2am for a FP+ if i can get it when I normally get up and get online great if not I'll check the wait times and see if its reasonable. If not I'll skip it. We have been enough times now that I am not going to loose my sanity to get one ride.

I knew the ride was short and geared for younger kids the first time I rode it, so my expectations were in check. I thought it was okay, the first time I rode it. I've been on it about four or five times now, and I feel like I enjoy it a bit more each time I ride. So, that's good.
