Am I the only one that wishes the BLT lounge would be adults only?

I would hope that the lounge continues to welcome families and kids of all ages.

I agree on the behaving part and some parents need to use a little common sense with their children in public. With that said, I have been to the lounge a few times with my 2 year old and other children were there - I didn't notice any behavior that was terrible.

It just seemed like everyone was having a great time.

I think that any lounge that has a viewing area of fireworks would have to be family accessible. It would be nice if each resort had one lounge that was for adults only, but realistically it would not be a financial success (think of Paradise Pier's failure). Just too many adults are traveling to WDW with children for Disney to consider an adults only place. Parent's expect that any Disney business would be for the family.

When I think about it though, how many parents would take their children to a lounge at home? I think most would realize that a bar is not a place for children.

When you are in disney world you need to realize it really is meant to be a place for families. We were in the lounge last February and had no problems with families in there. I remember being in there with 2 families with small kids and it never got too loud or anything.

NO! NO! and NO! some more.

Disney world is for FAMILIES. We're going to BLT in May, and I fully expect to take my 9-year]=old there. It's one of the reasons we are going to BLT. If my son misbehaves, he'll be yanked out...but that's almost never a problem with him.

if we raise our kids right there is no problem taking them anywhere.........:confused3

Disney world is for FAMILIES.

Disney world is not FOR any one specific group. To say that is quite offensive.

However, on topic here, I would not exclude anyone from this prime real estate. But I could understand from the OPs viewpoint if it was treated in the same way (theoretically) as the quiet pools as the resorts. Children are allowed, but they should do the running and screaming elsewhere. :goodvibes

Sorry, Walt build Disney for families. For parents to be able to have fun with their children, quite specifically.

Now anybody else who wants to spend a lot of time with kids, that's great! As you say, all are welcome at WDW.

Personally I can see that it could go both ways. There are children that can be unruly but so can adults. When my husband and I were there in October there were some obnoxious adults that made us wish they could be thrown out of the lounge. This is just my humble opinion!

Agreed, Walt built Disney with families in mind, and as you said all are welcome.

I'd say adults only in the lounge, but everyone welcome in the viewing area.

My 9 year old DS loves the Top of the World . He often asked, "Let's go up to the 16th floor lounge for drinks!" We have at least 3 glowing Buzz Lightyears as souvenirs. :)

I really don't mind the kids IF they are quiet. I don't like it when they are running all over the lounge screaming and yelling. I wouldn't complain if the lounge was adults only.

That's a parental control issue then... as parents responsibility has to be taken to ensure their kids act accordingly to location and at the same token there also adults who are loud and rambunctious which also isn't appropriate.... don't just nail noise and yelling to kids.

I remember one time hubby and I were out at a very expensive meal at a glass walled restaurant that was cliff-side overlooking the pacific... it was meant to be a nice romantic meal. There were families there, kids, couples, the whole gambit of tables of various patrons. Who ruined the night? Not the kids, the teens... but one man who made it known he was some guy from Hollywood working his magic on his girlfriend, or whatever. He was so loud, when he came in the mood of the room changed, when he left temporarily there as serenity -- then he returned and once again the tension built. Problem was he was spending big money on food, drinks and a room at the resort. The staff certainly had their hands tied, he wasn't vulgar but he was loud and most certainly showing off to the woman with him.

8 years later hubby and I still joke about that night but that the time we were quite annoyed.

I think every resort needs an "adults only" area, be it a lounge, pool, or restaurant. The Disney cruise ships have AO pools! Why not the resorts?

Yes I have kids (DD6 and DS4)

I'm a Mom of three teenage sons, so don't beat me up for thinking this way. But that is the only thing we didn't like about this great location to have a quiet drink last April, the sound of all the kids. I know, it's Disneyworld, and my kids have grown up here! But now that they are older, we are trying to find a few good hideaway places to just sit and talk quietly and enjoy a drink. Anyone else wish it were just for adults? We're staying here for our 25th anniversary in May, before going over to the BCV's, very much looking forward to it!

We will be celebrating our 25th in May as well. Starting at AKV, going on a 3 night cruise on the Dream and finshing off at SSR. Congratulations!

Congratulations to you too! May 1986, doesn't it feel like yesterday?:) where did you go on a honeymoon, we went to Bermuda, it was a blast. Your trip sounds awesome, we'll actually be spending a lot of our trip with our oldest son who is a CM at the Studios. Have fun!

No, I don't agree that it should be adults only.

:thumbsup2...kids only know what they are taught!!!!!

Intriguing idea. My son has unique, never-taught, ideas ALL the time.

What are you referring to with the PP mention?

Liquor laws in WA are such that many of the restaurants we like to go to are actually bars/brewpubs that also sell food. Law prevents minors from going right up to the bar, or into the exact bar area (at our fave place the separation line is where the horse stalls once were in the old firehouse, so there are openings and there's more open space than actual wall), but in the places they are more than welcome until a certain hour.

Some of my best, warmest, memories of being with my parents were in lounges. Listening to my aunt's husband play with his band at the Grand Canyon hotel's lounge. Hanging out at Hog's Head Inn (pub?) in Carmel CA when Clint Eastwood owned the place, drinking Shirley Temples and feeling so grown up at 11, talking maturely with my mom and stepdad... And DS LOVES going to the fave place that was an engine house, and having an Izze soda (safe ingredients for him and tasty) with his dad as I have a brew. He feels the same as I did...it's a special thing to get to be a grownup along with your parents before you're actually a grownup.:lovestruc

Disney cruise ships have FREE (or "included") daycare places for kids. WDW and DLR do NOT. That's the difference.

And isn't the piano bar at BW for adults only? So there is a place. One place, but still...a place.

I love quiet relaxing lounges but when I'm at WDW I love the sounds of happy families, IMHO it adds to the magic.

As long as everybody (adults and children) respect others around them I have no problem with sharing TOTWL. :thumbsup2
