Am I the only one that thought Mission Space wasn't that great?

Hey folks. i'm just wondering. I love thrill rides and was really looking forward to riding MS. We were there back in September inbetween Frances and Jeanne and Ivan and such. Crowds were fairly light. In fact, there was no wait for MS when I got there. I walked right in and got to the pre-trip instruction phase without waiting at all. I was really disappointed in the ride itself. From reading on here and the descriptions in the planning video, I was expecting this ride to be the ride of a lifetime. But after riding it, I'm not sure I will ride it again. I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. Anyone else feel like I do?

God bless!

While I am impressed with the technology and respectful of the man power that has gone into the ride, I felt it was a one time ride. I rode it, it was neat, I am done. I didn't think it was the best ride that I have ever been on, but I did find it to be interesting. But I am not chomping at the bit to rush right back and do it again. So I guess in a different aspect I feel the same way as you about it. Been there done that...Can't wait for Expedition Everest!

It didn't live up to the hype because the hype was over the top. If I entered the attraction with no pre-concieved notions I would have been more impressed. By Jan. my expectations will be nil so maybe another ride will produce a different reaction.

There is a lot of hype in MS (especially with the commercials they show at the resort 'dad, are we still in the building? blech!') regardless...it has its moment...from the initial take off and the first few moments when you're in 'space'

it feels really neat and even tho they tell you to keep your head straight, im the guy who looks up and down and left n right trying to make myself dizzy...no luck though.

anywho...i'll k eep riding this...even after a few trips to mexico and around the world.

While I thought the ride was okay, my sense of balance and equilibrium thought the ride was terrible. I got off of it feeling a little woozy. Hubby and girls loved it though. Normally rides don't bother me but this one did. Guess I'm "just getting too old" as my girls say. And if I can use that excuse not to have to ride it again, I will! ::yes::

I have to agree. I didn't think MS was all that it was hyped up to be. I just don't think that Disney does simulation very well, especially when you look at a ride like Spider-man at Universal. Now THAT's a ride that lived up to the hype!!!!

I thought it was primarily a giant 'centrifuge'. There used to be something at Six Flags years ago where you entered an open 'drum' and they spun you around so that you stuck on the wall. After reaching a certain speed they would lower the floor and you would remain stuck.

Think about what the MS ride would be without the 'spinning'. Not a 'bad' ride but nothing overly exciting. I think it is all bound up in the centifical force applied by whipping you around (at least thats what my stomach thought).

I think the theming is fantastic, the pre-show is great...BUT...I think Disney had to tone the actual ride down so much that it lost some of what would have made it a great ride. With many people being affected by motion sickness, etc., the ride seems to be less than it could be. I still really enjoyed it and will ride it over and over, because I enjoy the theming.

I was really impressed by this ride. Granted, I don't rush to ride it everytime I go to Epcot, but I don't rush to any ride in particular at any park (oh, wait, except Kilimanjaro Safari at AK). I have been a sci-fi fan for a long time and this ride gives me the illusion of actually going into space... Thankfully, I don't get dizzy and it's just a cool rush... I do agree the hype is over the top though...

eh, I found it to be not so great. It was interesting, but the end left you feeling really flat. I think they should have used some of their imagination that they created the hype with, and use it for a better ending.

And, I felt God awful after it.. blech.. will never go on it again.
