Am I the only one that didn't realize this about the promo tix?

So I just called Member Services to buy tickets for our upcoming trip and was told that you have to go to Guest Sevices at a park to activate them. Not a problem for me and DH but everyone else in our party will be arriving much earlier in the day and they want to go to a park. They would not have been able to do that because we would not be with them to show our member id.

I was able to cancel their tickets but what a pain. It was explained to me twice by two different CMs that this is how discounted tickets work. I just don't want some other unsuspecting member to buy these tickets for others in their party and not realize the tix have to be activated at GS first. Makes no sense to me at all. It is obvious I'm a member when I purchased them so why do I have to go to guest services?? Ugh!! I'm sure everyone else realized this but me. Thanks for letting me vent.

Actually, most of us consider that incorrect information, the tickets link and unless there were an issue you wil just go in. I heard the same spiel about convention tickets and it was untrue.

Btw-CMs are saying it And I'm not saying they aren't. But reality is it doesn't work that way. I think you can also select to have the tickets sent to you?

I'm confused by this. We've bought these for our boys. Are you saying they are automatically linked to their magic bands and we don't need to stop guest services?

It all depends on the delivery you requested but whether you have a confirmation number or the actual tickets if they weren't linked you should be able to do it just like any other ticket.

I just bought my park tickets through DVC. I bought 5 tickets and as I was speaking to the CM on the phone, I specifically asked if we had to go to guest services to activate them. He told me no. As long as I link them to MDE, they will be loaded on my magic bands and ready for when we arrive. Being so not technologically savvy, he helped me through the linking process. We are all set!!

I will try again this morning. I specifically asked if I link the tickets isn't that all that is necessary and two different CMs told me that I will be able to link the tix and make fast passes but will need to go to a GS location to activate the tickets and show my DVC membership card. I told them both that what they were saying did not make any sense but they were insistent. This is super frustrating. I am going to call again. Thanks guys.

OK,
I don't know if this is the same thing, but last November I bought the AP from MS and I linked them to our reservations. We got our FPs , my DS arrived two days later from college. We had to go to GS to show our ID and DVC card so we could actually enter the parks, when my son arrived we were already at AK, we had to meet him by entrance and he had to show his ID and we had to show the DVC card.

Yes, APs are different.

The last DVC ticket special people were also being told they'd need to go to GS. They did not.

I just bought the special DVC tickets for our trip in August. They were automatically linked to our MDE profiles AND I am having them mailed to me. There is no need to activate tickets these days.

Thanks guys! This frustrated me so much. Turns out we only need 3 day tickets so need no need for the deal. Now I'm just waiting for my credit card to be refunded $1300.

I bought some in person in January so my experience was different for that reason. The CM asked if I wanted them linked and I said no because I was t sure when I would be using them or for whom in my family. I have the tickets and they look just like regularly MYW tickets and I was told I could use them anytime and did not have to have them activated. But since I bought them in person and showed my DVC card at the time thst might be the difference.
