Hi-

We are scheduled at WL from 5/24 - 5/30. I have absolutely no discounts!! Am I the only person out there who actually has to pay full price and get no extras? What am I doing wrong?

I received a pin code in the mail, but its not good for the dates I am traveling.

I feel like such a loser having to pay full price! Any advice?

Maybe I should switch to a moderate or budget to save a few.

Your not alone, we have paid rack rates 2 of our 5 trips. We lucked into a discount on our first trip and in November of 2006 we stumbled across a code on Mousesavers. Other than that we pay rack rates and feel that the memories made with our son is more than worth it.

When we went in December, we booked our trip through the WDW website. We didn't have any codes or discounts. We stayed at Pop and still felt the rate was good for a Disney resort. We had a great time and look forward to going again!

I WAS JUST GOING TO SAY CHECK MOUSESAVERS.COM! We paid full price last year too.. I am hoping to get a coupon in the mail too but I am doubtful lol.. Good luck and If I see any discounts for the time u are going I will post it!
I check everyday lol

We pay full price more often than not.

If your dates are not flexible(DW and I are both teachers) then that takes away most opportunities for a deal. Additionally, if you can't make the math for an AP work, that takes away a lot of discount possibilities as well. And most of us do not live in Florida so that rules out a resident discount.

Sometimes AAA is a good deal for us, sometimes not. I did get a pin code this year but it was good at a value resort only and we are staying at a mod, so it didn't help.

If you can afford your trip, don't sweat it. I find that when I stick to my budget(whether large or small) I am able to enjoy my trips a lot more regardless of whether or not I am paying full price.:cool2:

I paid rack too. I know I could have gotten disc on the room/ tix, but I really want to try out the DDP:confused3

We paid full price last year, but booked through AAA this year and saved about $400 on an 8 day trip.

You might check their rates.

You should have at least get the free ticket upgrade if you booked a package.
:confused3

I am also a teacher, so that limits my flexibility. I thought I should be able to find a way to get at least the ticket upgrade...but of course, its not good for the dates I want at WL.

By the way, is Wilderness Lodge worth the extra $$ over a moderate. We have never stayed on Disney property and just want something convenient with our three kids 7, 5 and 18 mos.

Thanks for sharing your stories!

I have never been a AAA member until this year. First joined so that I could enjoy the Platinum Loews First benefits while staying at the PBH and I'm saving almost $60/night on their lowest rack rate and have been upgraded to a suite. Saving about $200 during our 4 night stay at the CBR and I'm saving $20/night at the WorldQuest. Total saving $580 - investing in the membership was well worth it this year. Have you checked your dates with your local AAA travel office?

You're not alone. We're going to the world in two weeks and paying rack rates. We were too late for the Disney Visa rates, and we never got a pin code. I kept wishing, but it did no good :(

When we went in Dec. 2006 we paid full price, but we have a AAA discount for this year, but I only got that because I booked so far in advance that there were actually rooms available for me with the discount.

I'm paying rack rate too. This is our first trip to WDW so I wasn't expecting much in the way of codes and discounts coming my way. I did ask for a AAA discount when I booked, but those were long gone. We're traveling in the value season so I still feel good about the prices we're paying.

Think of it this way - if you are paying rack rate, it means that you value your investment in you, your family, and your children's happiness more than those cheap people who got discounts :)

And not everyone got discount - reading DIS can be so skewed at times. There are 120,000+ members on DIS. On an average day at WDW, 35,000 people go to MK. During peak season, this can shoot up to 90,000+ per day. If we only take the average, that is 12,775,000 guests visiting MK per year, not including other parks in the World (of course, a lot of those would be same individuals visiting other parks at different days during the stay). From the casual glance on the boards whenever people discuss discount codes, it seems like 50% of the people celebrate they got a PIN postcard or email and 50% of the people lament how they never get such discount. So, out of the 120,000 DIS members, assuming all are active and posting, only 60,000 have discount codes. Out of those, some people do not get to use the code because, like you, they fall into wrong date range, wrong resort type, etc. So, maybe you have only 30,000 out of the 60,000 who has the code. Then out of that group of people how many people actually use the code and go to the World? We'll apply liberal figure and say 15,000. Out of those 15,000, 14,999 of them used the CM-messed up discount code from several weeks back. So, that leaves only 1 person out there in DIS that is using a legitimate discount code. So, you're not alone when booking something using rack rate.

Have you looked into AAA discount?

Rack rate here!

We are traveling end of April. All the AAA rooms at POFQ were booked, and all the hopper/waterpark ticket upgrade slots for POFQ were taken by the time I called. I could have taken either discount if I chose a different hotel, but we put a lot time in deciding on POFQ and really didn't want to switch.

We got a heckuva deal on airline tickets, though, so I can't complain too much.

You're not alone! I'm paying over $13K :scared1: for our 8 day/night stay at VWL in a studio and a 2BR!

I still have to find cheap airfare ... hopefully JetBlue has a sale to appease/regain customers after this week's scheduling fiasco with the snow in NYC.

My friend and I are both Travelling to Disney for Christmas. She, a couple of days after me and coming home a day early. We both had vacation this past year. Me in Oct/Nov and Her Dec/Jan. I got a code for 40% off various week throughout the year. She got a code for this Jan/ Feb this year....less then a month after she came home! Not even time to save.

She is ticked too......She has never stayed onsite. We both live in New Brunswick, Canada and just miles away from each other. Still wondering how Disney selects who gets what?

It's the downside to going during holidays. That is memorial day weekend and it's also not any of the dates connected to the infamous 40% code. I just read another thread where someone just got a new code with pin and the memorial day weekend is blacked-out from the discount.

BTW: I too couldn't get the 40% discount because all of my vacations fell while the discount was not being offered. Even though I never visit during holidays, I guess my dates are busier times. April 29th (2 weeks); Aug. 15 (4 days); Oct. 14 (2 weeks). I am DVC and like to add on a day or two now, but didn't because of the lack of discounts.

We usually book pretty far in advance and are able to get AAA rates. That said, we did book a short notice trip back in 11/03 and paid rack rate. We needed a family trip, so we took what we could get...and paid full freight for it.
