Am I the only one LOVES the bus transportation method over driving?

We loved the busses also. We used our car once when we went in Dec. and that was to get to dinner at the YC from our room at CSR. My kids loved the bus so much they threw a fit when we put them in the car to get to YC. They wanted to take the bus. :rotfl: We were lucky enough not to really experience any real waits and my dh said it was great to just hop on a bus and sit instead of trying to fight your way out of the parking lot at closing time.

Don't so much love the busses, but we never rent a car. I can't remember the last time we rented a car. We usually stay at the Beach Club or Boardwalk Villas, or the Swan or Dolphin. This allows us to walk to Epcot and MGM. We don't spend a huge amount of time at MK, so we usually take a bus to MK in the a.m., but take the monorail back to Epcot and walk back to our room, or vice versa (take monorail in a.m., and bus back). The only place we have to bus to is AK. I love the fact that we can be at WDW for a week and never drive. One time we even took mass transit from the TTC to Seaworld and it worked out great. No need for a car, even if we don't love the busses.

However, my grandaughter, Ireland, absolutely loved the busses. She was 18 months old when we went in May, and sang, "The Wheels on the Bus" every time we got on one. She danced and sang the entire time we rode it. She also love the boats, but the bus was her favorite.

I can't imagine hiking back to my car after a long day in the park and having to navigate Illuminations traffic back to the hotel . . . I'll happily take the busses any day!

Just not from ASMo again.

I grew up in Chicago...public transportation is a way of life there so taking a bus anywhere else is fine with me. We love the bus system at WDW. It's just so nice to go on vacation and not have to worry about a thing...including driving. I really can't think of other places where even the transportation is taken care of for you.

When I go solo, I never rent a car as I never leave Disney property. Although the buses can be a bit slow at times, I really don't mind. Also, depending on where I'm staying, there are boat & monorail options too.

We've always used the buses. It just so easy and convient! The only time we ever use our own car is if we go golfing. Other than that we use Disney transportation. Thats the reason they have the buses/boats/monarail for us to use and make our vacation less stressful on finding a parking spot and fighting the crowds at closing time.

I love Disney transportation
I like getting off the plane hopping on magical express and forgetting how to drive.

We like to mix up the transportation and use all forms in one trip.

Bus, Boat, Monorail, Ferryboat.

We do not leave DISNEY property at all is there anything else besides the airport?

I notice that on the boards, it seems most people drive themselves or rent a car when in DW, but I absolutely LOVE taking the busses around. To me, it helps me be UBER lazy on my vacation! :cloud9:

I guess I just like the idea of being chauffered around. :confused3

AGREED!!! When I'm in WDW, I like to leave it to them to take care of me. That's what it's all about. They offer you the convenience, and for those prices, I'm sure as heck gonna take advantage of it!
Plus, it just adds to the experience.

I have ALWAYS loved the buses! We stayed off site for a long weekend and it killed me to drive my car around Disney. It felt like I was back in the "real world" when I was driving and that's not cool!

I love the buses. I hate to drive I hate waiting in parking lots trying to get out. I go from happy mode to wanting to run over people who cut me off and have no courtesy to other so this way I stay happy calm and a better person and all I worry about is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!

I love taking the bus, the few times we drove I hated it. The bus is all part of Disney. My Uncle who is in Disney all the time would rather drive then take the bus. He has even driven to MGM from Boardwalk :rotfl2: some people :lmao:

We like the buses too. That's one of my 5 year old's favorite parts--it's just part of it now. There are SOME bad bus experiences that stick out (like the 1 1 1/2 hr wait for one at Epcot, the time our bus had a wreck, etc), but the good far outwiegh the bad.

We drive from Mass, straight through...so when we get out of that car we are all done! We love the busses. I have never had a problem getting where I need to be. Of course, if you don't leave enough travel time it doesn't work for you! If I "miss" the bus to MK or wherever, guess what? Another one will be along in a few minutes! We are a large family that likes to relax, enjoy a few adult beverages during our day. We don't get obnoxious drunk or anything, but after more than one drink you should not drive, thank you bus drivers! In 04 part of our group went to Sea World, they had a good time, but my dad says he doesn't want to leave Disney property again! On our last trip in April, we were on the bus to the MK, and a woman gets on the bus- it's about 4:20, and says to the bus driver "we have reservations at LTT (I think) for 4:30, you need to get us there! Hello? I would have told her to shove it! My DSIL and I were in awe of how rude this woman was- like it's somehow the bus drivers fault she didn't plan ahead! The bus driver was very nice and called someone to see if the restaurant could be notified that these people are on their way, above and beyond to me, the woman then proceeded to stand next to the driver and comment on the route he was taking, the speed he was driving at was too slow, ect. Honestly my DSIL and I were LOUDLY hoping he would slam on the brakes. She was brutal. We get to the MK, and she doesn't even thank him for calling ahead for her, nothing, just storms off the bus with her sheepish looking husband and kids trailing behind. What a witch. Sorry- a little rant there, guess it still bothers me!

I guess we're in the minority here. We've only been there once (as adults), and we rented a car while staying at AKL. DD1 was 18months at the time, and we loved being able to hop in our car, and get somewhere quickly without waiting in a line with an impatient toddler. Plus we never stay until closing, and go during slow times, so battling crowds to get out of a park was a non issue.
We really debated this time about whether or not to rent a car. We ultimately got a deal for a rental for about $120. DD1 is now 3, and dd2 is going to be 9 months when we go. It will suck to have to lug the carseats onto the plane, but we really liked having the car last time.
Afer hearing everyone's thoughts here though, we will probably try out the buses this time, so we can see if a car is really needed.

I am WAY too impatient for the buses. I feel like we waste too much time using them, so it's rental car all the way. I also like knowing that we have the freedom to jump in the car and go without having to consult the bus schedule, wait for it, hope we get there in a timely manner. It's way too stressful. I feel much more in control with a rental. But I'll wave to all of you at the bus stops while driving past! :wave2:

I do enough driving at home, so when I'm on vacation, there's no way I'm driving anywhere!

I'm as guilty as the next person about complaining about the busses, but they're all a part of the experience! And SO much better than driving yourself!

The first five times we went to the World, we used the buses only and it worked out fine. This time we used the car to drive to the parks in the daytime. We were at POFQ, and the parking lot was really close to our room, so it made sense. It seemed to work out well. When I'm going to the parks in the evening, though, I love to ride the bus. On the way back to the resort, I enjoy sitting in the dark with all the other tired, happy people, listening to everyone chatting quietly about what they did that day. I would feel cheated riding back alone in our car at night. I know, I'm weird... :)

We love the buses boats and monorails... but like to have a car for those days we decide to go from a park to downtown Disney - saves an hour or more. Or when we want to go to Boma from Boardwalk... I'll drive that.

We just did a 10 day stay with no rental car because the prices are so high... and wished we had the rental car only a couple of times... had to take a taxi twice to avoid long trips.

Of course, as much as we do like the buses, there was one stay at Boardwalk when the buses arrived FULL every morning to every park. Sometimes we could not even get on and waited 2 or 3 buses. They seem to have stopped the nonsense with all 5 EPCOT resorts on one route for the most part now.
