Am I the only one devastated by the Country Bear Jamboree Updates just released?

I kind of like the idea of the past's vision of the future. I wouldn't even mind if they just keep the future scene, then added another. Then kept that one, added another-- and eventually the whole carousel would be a timeline of how the future was perceived in the past. And this is coming from someone who dislikes 99% of change--but this version of COP, this is the 1% I can get on board with.

However they split up the past timeline is OK by me, but the final scene is supposed to be the future - and it is not. The attraction was last updated in (checks Wikipedia) 1993, which was (checks calendar) WHOA! 31 years ago! I think in today's day and age, the final scene needs to be more of a warning about AI and being too reliant on our smart phones. Kinda hard to sell that narrative when the people in the theater are in the process of getting their next G+ LL on their smart phones while they enjoy the AC though.

I agree with this approach. The early periods are important because technology was developing pretty fast during that period.

Please leave my Muppets alone...or make a new Muppet something, the live show over in MK right before or around COVID was pretty cool, but the new Muppet Show they tried to create on G+ didn't come close to the shows and creativity of the past. I totally support the addition of PIGS IN SPACE though

Disney hasn't had much success with many updates and/or remakes (thinking of the live versions of our Disney classics) at all and Tiana's is a perfect example (Tiana deserved so much more). The lack of creativity is striking and even MMRR, while technically it is considered an update to the prior ride, they didn't just rework TGMR, they created something new which is probably the only reason it works despite us always reminiscing about things we miss from the prior ride. At least its creative and enjoyable and they had to think outside the box to create it.

No, I'm sorry, I should have specified that I haven't been on it yet. From the recently released videos it really just seems so disappointing. I agree with all the reviews that the story is lacking. Really....on a hunt for a band? I will give it a chance and I won't lie, I looooooved Spash mountain, but I do love the Princess and the Frog and they could have made this an amazing ride and it seems like they fell short.

I will say that the hunt for the band is at least better than the hunt for chili peppers that they were originally talking about.

I think it would be completely undermining the whole point of the attraction to say "cell phones are bad. ya know back in my day..."
The whole point of the attraction is to dream of the future and embrace it when it gets here.

Of course, the original point of the attraction was to dream of a future where the wonderful products of the General Electric corporation will make your life a virtual paradise! It actually seems like a no-brainer for a tech company to sponsor the pavilion and showcase their products, especially in the final scene. "Alexa, reset oven to 400 - and order another turkey with Amazon Prime same-day drone delivery."

I agree, they definitely cheaped out. I feel like there was always something to look at in Splash. Something moving or the detail in the tree branches, thornes, etc. From the videos I've seen, there seems to be a lot of dark empty areas. One video I saw, the Louis animatronic mouth already stopped working.

Like I mentioned before, whatever Disney updates, there has to be NO question the updated version is better. It cannot be "just alright" or "not bad". Hands down, NEEDS to be an upgrade of the previous attraction. They failed in this aspect.

You cant give me attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind then throw a refresh on an existing ride that turns out "ok" and have fans satisfied. The money is there, they just dont want to spend it.

You're competing with peoples memories and i would say that is not something that can really be overcome if you're Disney. The true test is if the ride is as popular with the younger generations as they age, if my 4 year old loves it now and at 40 then it would be considered a success IMO. I just don't think you're going to get the original fans of a ride to love a new overlay especially when they didn't ask for one in the firstplace

Sounds like at least one of the classic CBJ tunes is sticking around. My guess will be either Bear Band Serenade (intro) or Come Again (finale).

Yikes. I already feel like this refresh is ignoring the first word in its title (COUNTRY), but this would really solidify that. Singing Disney tunes with a twang doesn't make it country. Although, I'll take the bears singing Disney songs rather than a lot of contemporary country, which is just naming truck brands to a beat.

It’s difficult when they make changes to the attractions we love. Tiki Birds has changed a few times over the years (I don’t know how I survived that version with Iago, and the fact that he went up in flames seemed like pure karma). I try to reserve judgment until I see the new version, but considering what they did to Imagination over at Epcot (one of my favorite rides in its original form) they miss as often as they get it right. Let’s hope the new Country Bears show is good in its own way.

I still don't understand why they changed the original Imagination ride....

I haven't yet seen the changes in the "updated" Country Bear. However - I can say that I personally - as a 62 year old WDW veteran of many years - loved the show ( both versions) because of the memories and the completely inappropriate and hysterical antics of old school animatronics along with their clicking... and I liked to observe what the heads over the door were doing. HOWEVER - when considering bringing kids to this - I admit that I think twice about it - because the subject matter is a bit less family oriented - BUT then overule myself because it is still enjoyable. Having said that, I think there's plenty of room for change for the next generation - and I've learned that as long we still have imagination, there's always room for change.
