Am I the only one annoyed by this??

Okay.... I will don my flame suit early here.... this could turn out to be controversial (or not!)..... but here goes.

It drives me crazy to try to read threads that use little or no punctation marks, little or no capital letters and it is all typed in one, long run-on paragraph, no matter how long the post.

There are a few posters around here whose threads I won't even try to read any more because they are so difficult to follow. I know that this is a very casual setting and I certainly don't expect perfect grammar or anything of the sort! But please, could you not make an EFFORT!? I just cruised over to one of the other boards that I frequent and there was a thread started by a fairly new poster. The title had no capital letters, no punctuation, and two typos.... JUST IN THE THREAD TITLE!! Needless to say I didn't even try to read it.

Just wondering if this bothered anyone else or if I am just being picky!! .....................P

I hate this, too. Do some people not know what the shift key is for? I can't stand reading these posts and usually just skip over them.

It is annoying , esp. when it is ALL CAPS or no punctuation. It hurts my eyes to read it.

But I have terrible grammar and my spellcheck on the DIS doesn't work, so I'm not really able to complain, ya know? Because I know I annoy people with my spelling and grammar.

Thread titles don't bother me as much, I just glance at them to get the jist of what they want to talk about.

The actual POST, however, bothers me. A few spelling mistakes/typos here and there doesn't really get to me.

ITS WHEN PEOPLE TYPE LIKE THIS oR lIkE tHiS....or they constantly forget punctuation and do this...instead of ending their sentence with a period...that bugs me.

No offense to anyone who does this, it just makes the post very hard to figure out.

I know my posts tend to not be properly typed,,. My punctuation skills, my spelling, My grammer has really gotten bad especially if I am in a hurry. but then, being as i type with just one hand( the left, i burned my right hand back in 93 and ruined the nerves, I havent got any feeling in my finger tips so i cant use it to type) and since I havent had the u se of my right eye for a while now, i am really bad at getting things right. Most times if my posts are over a sentance or 2 i do try to at least punctuate them. I appologize if my posts aer hard for you guys to read, but I am doing good to type at all.. so hopefully my typoing will improve

Sorry Froggy.... I really didn't mean you. You certainly have a legitimate excuse for having less-than-perfect typing skills! It's the folks that are just plain lazy!.................P

That is why I don't frequent the Trip Reports board too frequently. Those loooong paragraphs are just too difficult to negotiate sometimes....................P

When I click on a thread and it's 3000 words all in one long paragraph, I just clicked out of it. It's too hard on the eyes to try to follow it. Paragraphs people!!!

I dont mind all capitals, or an error here or there. When words are spelled wrong on purpose (ie U R 2...whatever), thats when I get aggravated.

Ill admit Im lazy as I very rarely use 's when I type..as Im sure you see quite a few missing from this post.

No, you're not the only one annoyed by this. I certainly don't expect perfect spelling and grammar, as I know I am not perfect by any means, but the running together of sentences, and no punctuation bugs me too.

When there is no punctuation and long, long sentences in one long paragraph, I just get frustrated that I can't follow it and then back click and forget it.

I actually have not had any problems at all reading your posts. This one read very easily.

I think the problem ones are the ones that have 7000 words all n one paragraph, all caps etc.

I just find that those type of posts can be hard to read. I know that I am not perfect, or even close when it comes to spelling, grammer and punctuation, but I do try.

Froggy ~~ You have a reason to type the way you do. I'll admit the first time I read one of your posts, I was annoyed, but then I read your story and now it does not bother me at all.

I am right there with you... I just click right out of posts like that. Poor grammer drives me insane.

We all let grammer slip in a casual environment like a message board, but basic grammer is just courteous to others. And that INCLUDES those loooooooooooooong paragraphs, or what I like to call "rambling thoughts" LOL

So I just skip out of it!

My husband sends me emails with no caps, no punctuation, no paragraphs, and it also drives me crazy. He sees no reason to add caps and stuff. I don't know why, maybe because it's hard to read. I don't like it hear either. A few typos (no one's perfect) and missed commas is one thing, but laziness is another.

In all honesty, there a re some times when i really over do the bad typos , because dw reads over my shoulder, and if its really bad she reaches takes keyboard and I start dictateing to her

Alright, I guess i'm guilty of not using caps here! But I do use punctuation and I do try really hard to start new paragraphs! And I tend to use the ... a lot. Sorry!! I'll try to be more cautious of my caps!
