Am I overpacking? Clothes for Toddler?

I'm trying to consolidate here... (See my "Ack!" post), and I'm wondering if I'm overpacking for my DS 2.5.

I've gotten a gallon ziplock for each day. Since its Nov, and I know the weather will vary (and DS will undoubtably need a change of clothes at least a few days) Each bag has... Shorts, pants, long sleeve and short sleeve shirts that can all be interchanged.

Plus I'm bringing 2 sweatshirts, 2 PJ's, and a nice outfit to have pics taken at MVMCP.

We'll be at WDW for 4 days, 1 day at DTD and 2.5 days out of the park when I'm on business and DH/DS will be on their own.

Knowing what a 2.5 yr can do to clothes in a day, I don't think I'm doing too much, but this is quickly filling up his suitcase. And, I still need to put in shoes socks and his other necessities and etcetera's.

Advice Please!

I'm just getting started on packing for our week long Nov trip. I don't think you'd need pants for each day, if you are trying to cut back?

Here's what I'm taking, 2 shorts/short sleved shirts for each day, a sweatshirt and two pair of pants and one light jacket and a few pjs. Plus, I'll add a few extra shirts, since ice cream/treats don't always fare well with DS's clothes! I figure we will buy another sweatshirt and probably a t-shirt or two. I'm going to wait until a little closer to the trip to see what the forecast will be and adjust if necessary. We went the same time last year and I thought the weather was pretty warm - mostly short sleved shirt and short weather. It was chilly a few nights though. Honestly, I'd rather overpack for him (and not me!), since you never know what can happen with kids!

HTH and happy packing!:yay:

You can always do a quick load of laundry if needed. I am packing right now as we leave in 2 days. I have about 6 warm outfits and 6 cold day outfits for 10 days. On the morning of our DTD day, I will do a small load of laundry. That way I don't ahve to pack as much.

Thanks guys! Its good to know what other people are bringing. I just don't want to overpack and wind up w/ an extra bag. (W/ the stroller, carseat, etc., we'll have enough trouble traversing the airport.) But, maybe I can leave a few of the long sleeve shirts or long pants out.

Aristomommy -I'm trying to avoid the laundry if possible! But, I know I can if I have to. (I've been doing laundry for like 5 straight days to get ready, and I know I'll be at it again as soon as we get home... :laundy: )

It is best to have what you will already rather than having to buy it at Disney. Toddlers can be messy and having a change for in park each day is wise. Also having long sleeve jackets and clothing for nites helps keep the little ones happy and warm.

If you are not renting a car, you could probably do without the carseat. You won't be able to use it on the ME or disney transport busses and you don't need it for the plane.

If you are renting a car you can also rent a carseat.

HTH.

Check the weather (weather.com has a 10 day forecast) before you pack. I think that you are bringing too much for a toddler. For four days, I would bring 6 outfits total and only 1 sweatshirt. If you could stick with lightweight pants and ss shirts, you can layer with the sweatshirt when needed.

We went last January, and I packed according to the weather report. It worked well.

Also, from your other post, I can't see a toddler needing an entire suitcase to himself. I would try to put his stuff in yours and your DH bag (I would put it in DH's bag since I always have more toiletries).

And can you combine your toddler's stuff in yours or DH's carry-on, too? I carried a small bag for myself with valuables (purse-like) and a backpack with toddler supplies.

Have a great trip!

I agree. Unless you're packing the bulkiest clothes in his closet, I can't see the toddler clothes being the main concern with filling up your suitcases...Their clothes are pretty small (and I have a big kid!). Usually the space fillers are things like adult pants and sweatshirts, shoes, full-size toilettries, etc. Can you cut back in those areas?
