I just spoke with CRO...to find out about AP rates. I know I am suppose to check in the AM and post 1st thing..but i couldn't wait.

The CM Sal or Sol I JUST spoke with gave me a GREAT idea that I never thought about. He told me to HOLD a ressie with a FLA resident rate, EVEN IF YOU NOT A FLA RESSIE, just hold them, and when AP rates come out (almost always the same discount 35%) you can modify them with a AP rate.

The reason for this would be b/c say you have a AAA rate and its only discounted 20%, and you go to modify that, they won't be able to b/c of the difference in percentage, but FR rates and AP rates are usually the same

Hope this makes sense and helps some of you.

He did say that they should be out VERY soon, I will call SAT AM.

PS for all you FLR---the play 4 day pass is coming out too...it will be $109+tax again.

Thanks for the update. My sis-in-law is a FLR and we have been waiting to see if they were going to do the 4 days to play thing again because we're going down in July with our 4 kids and her & her hubbie. This is a great way to save big time.

Have a happy day!:D :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :D

I wouldn't advise ANY non-FL resident to cancel their code rate (or DC rate or whatever they have) try to get a FL resident rate. Those rates are for people that live in Florida and they will ask for your driver's license or other ID at check in. And what if there are no AP rates this summer?

The reservations people have no clue when or if AP rates are coming out.

I didn't mean for anyone to cancel a ressie that they already have. You can hold more than one reservation at a time though.
imo-its worth a shot. you don't have anything to lose for trying it.

Anytime I have booked a FL Resident rate for a client, CRO has asked for their FL address.

I don't really understand. When I had the WL booked a year and a half ago with a AAA rate I had no problem changing it to AP once it came out.

If non-Fl residents book rooms with FL res rate, then real res. wouldn't be able to get a room! Then, if you book that rate and wait and wait and nothing, then you may ed up paying rack rate, since some codes expire or there just would not be availability. This doesn't sound like a good idea.

The thing about it is, where will they send your confirmation to? They'll see an outsider's address!

I never had problems switching to other discounts. Unless things have changed, secure your room with whatever you have available and then change your rates when you can justify the request with a code or promo.

Your deposit goes towards your final payment anyhow.

Between us here, with this economy, uncertainty of the war and all, I don't foresee rooms filling up to capacity but possibly better offers coming up, motivating people to stay onsite. I don't foresee too many difficulties finding good rates and discounts, but I foresee willingness in CRO to give you the best offers just so you can still come on your vacation. I would not worry so much, in all honesty

Okay, I guess I didn't think it all the way through. The CRO got me pumped up last night. Guess I should have thought before I posted.

Luvinit -- I'm glad you posted, and I'm sure everyone else it, too. That's why these boards are here.

Keep in mind that sometimes the people on the boards no much more than CRO. How many times have we called and had to hang up because a CM had no idea a certain code was even available.

At least your CM was trying to be helpful!:D

And - the more rooms that get booked using the currently available discounts - the fewer rooms or need there would be to offer another (AP) discount.

Making one reservation in hopes to switch it later can be a gamble. Its one that is most often worth making, but if the room is booked there is no need to try and discount it later.

AP rates and FL res rates aren't always the exact same - FL res rates are usually a little lower. And I don't think they will let you book a room with FL res code unless you have a FL res rate to mail the confirmation to. They're usually pretty strict about FL res rates.

Not trying to jump on the OP - just pointing out the irony of making a reservation and hoping for a discount later! Like I said its usually worth the gamble, but its a scenario that could happen!

what excuse do you give to CRO when they ask for your address?? If you are a Fl Res, you will have an address in FL...... or am I missing somehthing here???? Will CRO let you make a ressie with the FL discount & no FL address?????? Just my thoughts.....

I talked with CRO this morning about the FL Res rates and hotels and she reminded me that I didn't live in FL. They have the technology to see where you are calling from without you even giving them any information & before they even say hello. My sister in law will be making our ressies since she is joining us.

There isn't any way around their system and we shouldn't even try. Don't want to spoil any future plans for any of us.

I agree that is is a great forum for us to share our experiences and tips. I'm learning so much from this board for my trip in July. Thanks to everyone for sharing! :jester:

I would never hold more than one reservation at a time.. it is not fair to others trying to book, it is not fair to Disney... it is selfish.

>>^..^<<

The part that gets me is the CM saying that you could switch the FL res rate for the AP becasue it is closer in percentage. That make no sense! You can book at rack rate and then IF a code comes along that you can use, you can switch it if there is availability when you call.

I'd advise you to check into this thoroughly before you make any decisions!!! The biggest problem with Disney's CRO, is you can call 3 times and get 3 different answers!

A few years back, we had a reservation at the Beach club, using a DC discount. When the AP discounts were announced, I wanted to switch my discount, as the price was much less. I was told that the AP discounted rooms at Beach Club were *sold out*. The room I had reserved came from a *pool* of rooms only for DC members.....so I couldn't simply *switch* discount codes. I'd have to get a room from the AP *pool*.

We ended up moving to the Boardwalk with the AP discount....

...who said "any day now on AP rates so try back on Monday." I also asked how close they were getting to filling up the 2 hotels I am staying at and I was told that there are plenty of rooms available. :)

AKASnowWhite is correct in that there are only a certain number of rooms available with each discount, and sometimes you are unable to switch from one to another.

If a resort is almost filled or sold out for the time frame you want an AP, the chances of getting an AP rate are slim. They don't need to offer a discount since the rooms are already gone.

This is the problem I'm encountering for the first 3 nights of our stay. I have a rack rate standard which I was lucky to piece together over several weeks down from concierge!

Still, I'm trying to get the later part of my stay at an AP or code rate. Nothing past 7/3 is out though.

Thanks Fridye.

IMO I don't think holding more than one ressie is "selfish"... Often when I am planning a vacation I will hold more than one ressie so I can make the best choice for our family....if that makes me selfish so be it. This is how I have plan all of my vacations!!!! If its something your not comfortable with...than don't do it.

I agree, what the CM said makes no sense at all. Whatever reservation you hold, with whatever discount you might currently have, has nothing to do with getting an AP rate applied. It doesn't help to have a current reservation when looking out for AP rates. I've never understood why someone books a room they don't intend to keep if they don't get a discount. I don't particularly care that people do it, I just don't know what they think they're accomplishing.

As for holding multiple reservations...I thought I had read a few months back that Disney was trying to curtail people holding multiple reservations for the same dates with the same names on the reservation. I know they were doing it for priority seating and I thought they were doing it for resorts as well.

I believe it is one reason they are in the process of changing CRO polices over to WDTC policies with the pay in advance and stricter refund policies.
