Am I nuts? A 2 day trip to DL?

So Jetblue is having an amazing sale today, that lasts until midnight. From Boston, there are $80 flights to Long Beach, which looks to be pretty close to DisneyLand. There are no special deals to Orlando from Boston, but there are from other cities.
I've never been to DL. The flights are only for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If I fly out Tuesday morning, go to DL, stay one night at a local hotel (none of the DL hotels are in my price range), spend Wednesday at DCA, then catch the red-eye home Wednesday night, all for $160 roundtrip, am I nuts?
I have 3 and 1/2 hours left to decide! Would you do it?!

It's totally do-able and though I prefer to stay 3 days, 2 is ok. You will probably have a great time but more than likely be exhausted by the end of those 2 days.

I guess that's what the plane ride home is for, right? Sleeping :)

Do it! I did a last-minute, first-time Disneyland trip last month. Granted, I was there longer but the price is right and you'll get to see DL so go for it!

Update:

Flight booked! :cool1:
And get this, the total was actually only $63!!! From Boston to LA round-trip for $63, that's insane! I'm a Jetblue frequent flier and forgot I had a credit to apply.
The trip will be June 9-10. I gotta start reading up on the DLR DIS threads now. :)

Woo-Hoo! I'll be sure to wave at the plane as it passes over! :upsidedow HAVE FUN!!!!

You can do DCA in a half day, giving you a day in a half in Disneyland, with a few nights at Downtown Disney!

If you get there at rope drop you should be fine! You will need to RUN to the Subs starring Nemo one morning if you want to ride!

Have a blast!

You are gonna love "Walt's park"! :cool1:

Awesome

You won't get to see everything, but you can definitely get the highlights! Use Wednesday morning wisely by getting Nemo! DCA is 4-5 hours.

Have fun.

Wicked!!! Congratulations on one heck of a deal. ::yes:: You are going to have an awesome time. :teeth:

Glad you booked it! DL and DCA is easily done in 2 days if you're there from opening to close. Make sure you get the Subs and Fantasyland out of the way first thing in the morning. DCA can easily be done in half a day. Try to ignore all the construction. :)

Thanks for all the advice! Especially about Nemo! I figured it out, I'll only have 32 hours on the ground in Southern California! I definitely want to visit the rides at DL and DCA that do not exist at WDW, especially the Mattherhorn, Indy, and Cali Screamin'.

The last time I did a red-eye flight back from the west coast to the east, was from San Francisco after SF Pride last year, and I couldn't sleep at all. I'm pretty sure I'll be pretty tuckered out after running around DLR, so hopefully that means I'll get some sleep this time. I splurged an extra $30 for a more legroom seat.

What's funny, my only other time to Southern California was only for 2 days as well, just to ride roller coasters! It was the American Coaster Enthusiast's annual convention (back in 1994), I got off the plane and went right to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Any other ACE'ers on the boards?

You will want to read up on which attractions are exactly the same at DL and WDW and which ones are different..

For example, Soarin is exactly the same, so skip it, but things like Pirates and Space Mountain are completly different.

Not a member of ACE but a big coaster fan here! Cedar Point rules!

And the two guys camped out in front of Club 33 waiting for their reservation! :lmao:

I have NO idea what you're talking about. :)
I'm not going to discuss Club 33 or Tag Faries EVER again.

Well, Club 33 only on my fabulous trip report.

I'm here only for the punch and cookies.

Oh ok, I'm here for the friendships as well....... :)

Well, if that's what you want, I'll punch you.

You'll have to get the cookies from someone else though. I don't share cookies.

It's ok. I'm not into sweets much at all anyways. But always up for a good beatin'.

I kid.......

Have you booked your hotel yet? Hojo's has the Entertainment Book rate available for those days, in fact those are the only 2 days that are listed for the whole month of June! I've never stayed there (though I have tried a couple times and it just didn't work out and I had to cancel) but folks on the D'land forum swear by it. It's a short - I guess that is relative - walk from there to the park.
