You only get 3FP+ per day, regardless of the length of your trip. So what do you do all day when you are out of FP+ and you refuse to wait in 30 minute lines? That is the information everybody on this thread is leaving out of their stories.
Why do people wait? Because they spend thousands of dollars to go to Disneyworld to ride the headliners. Most people don't pay that much money to ride the carousel. If someone claims they refuse to wait in 30 minute lines I guess that's fine for them, but that means they're not spending their precious vacation time riding the good rides. If you're not gonna wait, you're not gonna ride.
That's my entire point....there are NO great strategies. None. Zero, zip, nada. Lines for the headliners are longer than 30 minutes between 10AM-10PM 365 days per year.
So saying "I refuse to wait longer than 30 minutes" means "I refuse to ride headliners except right at RD, with one of my 3 FP+, or right at close". But everybody already knows that. So why even say it? It's like saying "the sun will rise tomorrow". It may be true, but why am I spending my time reading it?
What do you do all day when you are out of FP+ and you refuse to wait in 30 min lines? You be proactive in your planning to try to avoid long lines (i don't consider 30 min a long line, especailly since they tend to overstate wait times imo). You need to be realistic in your expectations.
it's been posted here at least a few times already. you need to plan your path of attack. I will list a few ideas below. There are many variations of touring plans...there are many who will 'pooh-pooh' them out of hand...far easier than actually trying to work out a solution.
The best kept secret @ WDW is: You cannot do 'everything' @ WDW in a day, let alone a week...never have been, pre or post FP system. They want you to stay longer to try & get 'er all done. Stop & smell the roses.
We were in the parks 2nd week of May this year, many rides had 15 min waits mid-day,mid week. The disney app is a handy tool.
i am a recovering commando. Often just roll into parks early afternoon with FP in hand now that we do many adult trips. For those who will devote a whole day in the parks, below is a sample sort of day, based on normal attendance. Good for those who aren't interested in character interactions (or had foresight to plan a character meal to cross that off their list) and willing to stand a few bodies deep to view parade (Frontierland a good choice).
@ MK, you eat a big breakfast first & come for rope drop
head to BT & Spl Mts.
then PoC/Jungle Cruise, whichever has shorter wait.
select Fast Pass - schedule for approx 11 am - noon
Peter Pan (do HM afterwards, line rarely over 30 min. Probably can fit in Small World)
7DMR (visit LM/Dumbo or Barnstormer)
Space Mt. (buzz)
grab additional FP for pooh/buzz, etc. or your other fav eticket attractions you haven't crossed off your list.
search out the high capcacity attractions (Philharmonic, Laugh Club, Presidents)
Lunch is 'a snack or two', Dinner either an in-park ADR/CS or monorail meal...grabbing a FP before you leave the park.
Rides tend to have shorter waits during evening parades/shows...good time to revisit your favs.
