I really would like to go on Mission:Space orange team (the higher intensity version). But....I get motion sickness....in the back seat of the car, cruise ship, airplane (sometimes), even the front row of the movie theater watching Titanic. Now, in all truthfulness, I've never vomited from motion sickness, only had nausea. I want to do this ride, but I don't want to ruin my day. I'm thinking if I had a light breakfast and pre-medicated with some Dramamine or Benadryl I should be okay. But then again, if I feel pukey all day I'm not going to enjoy the rest of my day at Future World. WWYD? Try green team first, then orange? Or just do green? Or skip it entirely (which we did last time)?

Has anyone gone through the effort of medicating themselves to do this ride? If I take dramamine I can handle a winding drive through mountains or a rolling ship. Maybe I'm just weird for wanting to do this even under the threat of nausea.

Agreed. Try green. It's stilla blast, but you don't get spun. I made the mistake of trying to Orange side after eating lunch, and puked the entire rest of the day. It was also our honeymoon. Luckily, there were some really nice CMs there that walked with us from the ride to the bus (making several stops at trash cans and restrooms along the way). If you tend to get motion sickness, I would advise against it, personally.

I can only imagine the fun of visiting every trash can on the way to the bus. Maybe green is my destiny.

Personally, I've never been on it. But my DBF did the high intensity version. He NEVER gets sick on anything. And he didn't on mission space but he did say he felt "kinda funny" after. He said on the ride they tell you not to close your eyes and to always look forward and you won't get sick. Well of course he had to try closing his eyes and he said he felt dizzy almost immediately. I've heard they have the seats equipped with vomit bags because people get sick so often, and he said it was true. But that's the experience of someone who does not get motion sickness. So if you do decide to ride, take some dramamine, keep you eyes open, and keep looking forward! :)

The green side is still really fun :). If you're feeling brave and want to attempt it, at least you have a better idea of what to expect. Just wait awhile after you eat... ;)

I get violently ill on the rides like Body Wars and Star Tours (not sure what they care called) and can NOT ride the Tea Cups or Zipper (you know, at travelling carnivals?). . . But I had no problems with Mission Space. Like pp's boyfriend, I did feel a little 'odd' right afterwards but it only lasted a very short while. It wasn't nauseous or pukey, just odd.

That being said, if you *think* you might get sick, you probably will. . . don't risk it!

I love the orange, but my DH has tried both and did not like the orange at all - he now sticks with the green and so do 2 out of 3 of my boys. (One of my 7 year old twins likes the orange and goes on with me!) DH will go on some rollercoasters, but he did not like the way the G-forces felt on the orange. I'm not sure I would risk ruining the rest of your day....

I wanted to try the Orange version but was too scared I would feel sick the rest of the day.

I take anti-nausea pills when I travel in the back seat or on an airplane. I'm fine on Star Tours, RnRC, etc. Haven't done Primeval Whirl. I did go on EE and waited about a min for a second ride after just getting off. After that I was done-if I went on again then I knew it would not be good.

I did the Green side. Still want to try the Orange.

I get pretty motion sick pretty easily- can't ride in the back seat of the car or turn to face the back seat, have to medicate for all public transportation (plane, bus, train). I take Bonine (meclizine) every day at WDW so I can handle the busses, trams, etc. I don't do roller coasters except BTMRR, and then only once- more than that is bad! However, the non-spinning MIssion Space is very intriguing... I can't decide if I should try Green or not... opinions?

We were there last week and I went on the Orange side with my 2 boys, 7 and 9. I really wish we would have done the Green side. There are puke bags right in front of you and I just about had to grab one. But I do get car sick or motion sick sometimes. I was just hoping that it was over soon and willing myself NOT to puke. Somebody said it spins? I don't recall it spinning, but like I said, I was just focusing on not puking and praying it would be over fast. My boys did not want to go on it again either.

On a side note though, my boys thought it was pretty funny to see Lt. Dan (Gary Sinise) in the ride's video screen telling you about the mission. We had just seen Forrest Gump on TV a couple days before.

For me, I've figured out that it's not so much the motion that makes me sick as it is the visual non-motion that gets to me. Watching the screen at Soarin' even makes me a bit woozy for a while. Maybe it's because there's no actual motion to go along with the visual stimulation. I don't know what it is, but it gets to me every time. I still do the rides though. I just have to give myself extra time for the room to stop spinning afterwards though.

Don't doooooooooooo it! :scared1: I do not get motion sickness on ANY RIDE. I love simulators and they do not bother me at all. However, this one made me feel bad at the end (both times I rode it). I rode it twice to give it another chance on a separate trip. I wish I wouldn't have done that! According to the knowledge you gave, you don't even need to ride the mild version.

If you get motion sickness on anything else you should avoid the orange team IMO. That is probably the most intense ride @ WDW regarding "protein deposits."

do your fellow vacationers a favor and enter the green line.:)

I am very comfortable with most rides.. upside down, drops, whatever. But the orange side of Mission Space was much worst than I expected. My boyfriend and I were really nauseous afterwards and it almost ruined our day! We did the green side earlier in the day before trying the orange side (it was my boyfriend's idea.. despite my warnings ) The green side is just fine in my opinion.. still lots of fun.. just without the terrible "my body is being crushed" feeling

I have never had any problems with rides... until I rode Mission: Space (orange). OMG -- I felt SO bad. I remember wondering when the ride would be over so I could get off. My mom also felt sick for the rest of the afternoon. Surprisingly, my brother (who gets sea-sick) did just fine. DH rode the green version on a later trip and said it was better. Oh and if you are at all claustrophobic, don't attempt it!

I guess I'm in the minority here... I was terrified of MS Orange... it is now my fav ride! I don't get motion sick easily, but can't read in a car and did even manage to get sick on a plane once, but I suffer from migraines and was concerned about the pressure changes triggering a whopper for me... so I did green first... and found it very bumpy and aggrivating (much like I find Dinosaur). I tried orange just before we left for the day... I now ride it almost every time we go into EPCOT, sometimes multiple times a day! There are puke bags on the console, I have never seen anyone vomit in my capsule yet though. I have seen people laying on benches and even one on the floor. Since you get motion sickness pretty easily, I'd guess you probably will on this ride. You do no feel the spinning, it's a gravitron (like those things at the carnival that stick you to the wall) but it can still make you sick. It's really up to you... good luck on whatever you decide!
