We're bringing our double jogging stroller but am I going to look like a dork wheeling that thing in and out of the Grand?

I don't think so. You will see all kinds of strollers everywhere around the resort. Don't feel dorky for strolling through the GCH. Yes, it is a nice hotel but you're at disneyland so there are strollers everywhere!

THanks for that :) I thought so but have never stayed or even walked through there!! Just didn't know what to expect!!!

Well, you might have to go in the special gates to the side of the main gates, depending on how WIDE it is. The normal gates for wheeled conveyances are at each turnstile but the monster-strollers can't get through those. So that might slow ya down going in AND out of the parks...

I personally won't bring a jogger there...too beastly. We have rented while at DL and we've also used a BabyTrend and our Volo, and we like the Volo the best. Streamlined, simple.

But if all you have is the double jogger, just be aware that if it's too wide you'll have to enter and exit at a completely different spot.

All that said...staying at the GCH, you might do fine just renting strollers at DLR. No you can't take them to the GCH but you'll be fairly close, perhaps close enough that they can walk back easily or carrying them won't be so hard (assuming you have two adults).

It won't really matter even if you do look like a dork. And even if someone thinks you look like a dork, that's their problem. Disneyland was built by a father as a place where he could take his 2 daughters to the park and have fun with them instead of merely watching them have fun as they went by on the merry go round every few seconds.

You SO WONT!!! Your gonna look like every other parent out there pushing a stroller. You will fit right in.

My only concern is if it is too wide, there are handicap ramps inside the GCH and they aer not very wide

I agree with it maybe being wide but if she only has that stroller it'll have to do. I have a double stoller as well but it's tandem and not side-by-side, it's pretty compact and easy to steer. It will be my first time using it at DLR though and so I am kinda nervous too. Not what I will look like because all parents have had a stoller at one point...but how I will get around.

I can't thank you all enough!! I have another stroller and will seriously consider it instead :) Thanks you all SO very much :)

I just LOVED Sleepless Knight's post! I feel like that inside but I've never stayed at the Grand and wasn't sure what was appropriate :)

Thanks all!!

I highly suggest that if your kids are old enough to walk the distances involved, you let them walk, people don't pay any attention to strollers, wheel chairs or ECVs, I have seen people run into people in wheelchairs when the person in a wheelchair is off to the side and not even moving, then the person that ran into them starts cussing at the person in the wheelchair, the same thing happens with strollers, my DH was watching one of her nieces, who was sleeping in a stroller while the rest of her family went on space mountain, she was sitting at a bench with stroller turned so that it would take up the least amount of the walkway as possible, leaving enough room for at least 3 ECVs to maneuver by at the exact same time (to give you an idea of how wide the walkway that was still clear was). I would say at least 80 people bumped into the stroller, not one said sorry and I would say about 60% had a rude comment. Now mind you her niece was about 6 months old as I recall, so the stroller was a must. Now that being said, there are just as many rude people with Strollers, remember to be mindful of others, especially their ankles and especially when there are crowds, there are times that people just can't get out of the way. Ultimately you must do what is best for your child, just be aware of this and also remember that the child will be looking right at everyone's but all day, so if they are old enough to walk some of the time at least, you may want to encourage that just to give them a different view, I know I wouldn't want that view all day.

If you absolutely must use a stroller, remember there are a lot more hills than you think, but if you use them to your Advantage you can avoid a lot of the crowds and make pushing a lot easier.

For example at DCA, I recommend doing Soarin' First, then Grizzly River Run and the Trail, etc., then go across the Bridge to California Sreamin' and work your way down to Toy Story, etc., then go to Pacific Wharf and the Tortilla Factory and Bread Factory, then Bugs Land, then do the Hollywood Backlot, you will avoid about 80% of the really tough uphill climbs this way. (This is experience from pushing wheelchairs, I know strollers are lighter, but it will take it's toll on you by the end of the day).

You will not look like a dork, just be aware of all of the ramifications of having a stroller, a lot of them we never think about until we are in the situation.

Just my two cents worth on it all.

Yes, you will look like a dork, but the stroller will have nothing to do with it.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

4 days until we leave for this 'last minute trip' and although not seriously stressed I'm trying so hard to get everything together....THEN I read your post and literally LOL!! Thanks!! :rotfl2:

A doublewide jog stroller can literally block the entire side of a sidewalk within DL, as the paths there can get quite narrow, I would be self conscious knowing I was blocking traffic, and people can't pass until there is a break in traffic on the other side.
Of course sometimes it is the best answer...but it can be combined with maybe walking at times, a sling if they are little, or maybe a smaller double stroller.

We've taken our double jogger to DLR 3 times in the last 2 ish years and love to have it. We are very mindful of others and haven't had any run-ins with anyone. :confused3 The only hard part is getting in and out of DCA. The stroller does not fit through the stroller gates at the regular entrance. We have to wait at the far right side for someone to open the floodgate so we can get in. At DL we don't have any problem, the jogger fits through just fine.

We do prefer off-season, so this may be the reason we have had such good success with crowds and the stroller and no cussing or yelling. :rolleyes1

And I never feel self-conscious about having the stroller, my kids are in and out of it all day, and we can usually go commando-fast with them riding instead of walking if we want to get somewhere right away. If we don't care - we let them walk. It works great. And about looking at people's butts all day ~ my kids aren't very tall so that tends to happen anyway. :rotfl2:

you will be fine. I think that the ramps are wide enough but can be tight to turn.
Last time we stayed at CGH I was in a wheelchair and we were able to pass next to people with a stroller, so double stroller should be fine.
It will depend a bit on which stroller you have. This time we are taking our single jogging stroller because I want to make sure DD can stay dry if it rains (ours has a full weather shield).

So, don't worry about looking like a dork. Use the stroller that is easiest to push around with two kids.

Have fun. Maybe we will see you there :dance3:
