Am I getting old or is this horribly wrong?

First, he is developmentally challenged - so be careful with those judgement pants. There is already way too much of that in this thread.

Second, he will not take off his clothes in front of me at all. He is just closer to his mother. He dances for me, but not naked.

Wow, our daughter is developmentally delayed, and dh and I work our butts off everyday to encourage appropriate behaviors, not encourage inappropriate ones.

...Good luck.

You raise your children your way. I'll raise mine my way. We are both happy. :thumbsup2

And don't accuse me of being a troll again. I will report you. I have never made a troll post on this or any other board. Our differences need not be a problem, though you seem intent on making them into one. :confused3

Really? You'd allow your 10 year old, developmentally challenged son to put on a speedo with a bunch of other little boys and dance the can can on a stage, in front of a big audience, and have it posted on the Internet?

I know. Very sad:guilty:

We are a dancing family - we dance all the time. It is a lot of fun, and great exercise. Yeah, some of our more "conservative" friends think that we are nuts, but we laugh together more than any other family that I know. :thumbsup2

Must be NJ thing because we do it too. And I have seen my DH do a naked can can!

Anyway, I'd let my DD dance like that - but I'd have her in a tank top underneath that bikini top.

I really should suggest that to DH. Sounds like fun. :rotfl:

I don't think those "bikini" tops were very revealing at all. They looked like cropped tank tops to me. What I thought was a little strange were the tights covered by thigh highs (even though I think they may have been one piece).

Just showed it to my husband- he thought it was disgusting. Our 9 year old niece had her dance recital the first weekend of the month- I can only imagine my fil sitting in the audience witnessing that...... :scared1:

This must be where I'm supposed to throw out an "I know you are but what am I" or some other similar elementary school playground comment. :thumbsup2

We are just having fun, right? :thumbsup2

Seriously, I respect you opinion, but I am entirely on the other end of the spectrum on this issue. No biggie. :goodvibes

Butt-ugly isn't good. My DD has a production of "HMS Pinafore" at school this week and those costumes are also butt-ugly.
Nope. Especially when I paid $80 for said butt-ugly too-big costume :scared:. Thank goodness it only needs to be worn three times. It's a yellow and black sequined stretchy one-piece shorts thing with a matching scrunchie. We need the barfing smiley here.

Most of us do:hug:

Keep up the good work, Kirsten!

Blech! I only paid $25 (thank goodness) and it's an ugly gray skirt (full length) and the kind of white frilly top that was in style in the early '80s (very peasanty) and a bright yellow sash. (most of the buttons on the top were missing BTW. I had to sew them on). The really sad thing is that even in this horrendous outfit, she looked adorable. I guess it's just a function of being 11.

Oh ... my DD LOVES her costumes (the other one is sparkly purple one piece with capri pants) and she thinks they look really cool. I just smile and bite my tongue.

Please do:thumbsup2 I think the mods will laugh:rotfl:

I did not accuse you of anything:confused3 I said what I thought.

In my opinion, no loving parent would put their 10 year old developmentally delayed son on a stage with a Speedo to dance the Can-Can.

A caring parent would explain to a tween that dancing the Can-Can naked is NOT appropriate:eek:

Teach him to be a productive, appropriate person:goodvibes

:lmao: DH will be delighted to know that he's encouraged some similar behavior.

Yeah, the tops weren't terrible, but although no prude, I just have a problem with little ones and the belly hanging out. :confused3 Dunno why, it just irks me. And I thought the thigh high socks were cute (gotta get me some)!

Of course she loves it, IT'S SPARKLY! :rotfl:

Hey, that's OK. We can all have differing sartorial opinions. I think!
