Am I getting old or is this horribly wrong?

My 10 year old son does a naked version of the can-can dance almost every morning when he gets out of the shower for my wife. He does this with a towel wrapped on top of his head. My wife laughs with him every morning when he does it (he will not do it in front of me :snooty:). At 10, he is neither modest nor does he understand the sexual implications of his dance. He has been doing this for a little over a year, off and on.

I guess that we are perverts for allowing this to happen. I mean, if I did it in front of my wife, it would have a very different meaning, so it must be just as sexually explicit when my son does it (did I mention that he is naked when he does the dance?).

Oh yeah, and my son must be destined to become a pole dancer or to knock up some chick (probably one of these little girls) by age 15. :thumbsup2

:sad2:

Apples and oranges. You can't compare a dance routine in an auditorium for hundreds of people to a silly dance that your child does for his parents.

I think it's a bit risque for 7 year olds and wouldn't want my child in that outfit or doing that dance. I just showed my 15 year old and she said 'wow, those outfits are inappropriate.'

 Uh, yeah, at 10, I think that is more than strange. Sorry. There's a reason he won't do it for you. I don't know why but if he'll dance naked in front of mom but not in front of dad, he is definitely thinking somethings not right about this "dance".

Not saying he's going to be a pole dancer or knock some chick up at 15 but I would definitely call that inappropriate at 10--more like something that a little boy would do at 4.

First, I can't imagine the can-can being sexually explicit.

Have you videotaped it, put it on You Tube? Or will he perform it naked, on stage, in front of an audience? There's a world of difference between a kid doing something to make his mom laugh in the privacy of your own home and tarting up your child to bump and grind for the entertainment of others.

As a mother of boys, I have to say: Ewwwwww. I cannot believe that you posted that.
I'm with you. You can join the "catty" club, I guess.
Apples and oranges. You can't compare a dance routine in an auditorium for hundreds of people to a silly dance that your child does for his parents.
:thumbsup2 And if an adult man did a naked can can for his wife, I'm not so sure I'd see that as sexual either. More stupid, like a kid. Or maybe I'm missing something. I think I need to talk to my DH...26 years of marriage, and not one naked can can dance.

I was not comparing the dances - I was explaining that dance moves that might seem sexual when performed by an adult are not sexual when performed by a child that does not understand their sexual nature. They are just funny dance moves. :upsidedow

Would you have no problem with it if he did his "routine" on stage for an audience?

The problem is that when you put it out there for an audience, you have to be prepared to accept the fact that it will be construed in many different ways. People form opinions and perceptions based on how one behaves. In the case of these girls, the parents will be the ones to carry the blame.

That's probably why you have lasted 26 years:rotfl2: I walked into the bathroom once and DH was leaning over cleaning the tub in his birthday suit. I still have nightmares:scared1:

:scared1: Those girls are way too talented to be doing that! They're technique alone could have stolen the show without that dancing and those revealing costumes. I danced for 18 years and competed most of those years and I have seen 7 year old girls/boys that were as good as them, but never a big group like that where they all had such amazing talent. It's a shame the dance instructors did not showcase their talent in a better way, and a shame the parents did not speak up!

I agree. Some of their turn and overall positions were impressive. Too bad I was too busy being shocked that someone allowed them to dress up like that and do the gyrations.

I think its a shame. They are very talented and should be performing more suitable routines. The costumes and the moves are very inappropriate for young children. What the hell are their parents thinking.

Agreed!

Fantastic dancers but what in the world were the teachers and parents thinking by putting them in those outfits?

Hey, get me a saucer of milk. Some things shouldn't be posted online.

I had no problem with the song or the routine/moves. They were pretty amazing. I do have a problem with the Prostitot costumes, though. They were very distracting.

OK, now I'm going to have nightmares, and I don't even know what your DH looks like! But I wouldn't even want to see Johnny Depp doing that. (OK...bad example.)

I just emailed DH...he's out of town on business...to ask him why he's never done a naked can can for me. Hope he's not in a meeting.

First, he is developmentally challenged - so be careful with those judgement pants. There is already way too much of that in this thread.

Second, he will not take off his clothes in front of me at all. He is just closer to his mother. He dances for me, but not naked.
