Am I getting old or is this horribly wrong?

That's one of the more bizarre statements I've read on the DIS. Dance moves that are considered sexual when an adult woman does them but not when a little girl does them. I'll have to think on that one for a while.

Nah.

I agree, glad you posted it b/c I didn't want to be mean. But really, adorable when a small child is doing sexual dance moves?

But then I see people who think it is adorable to dress their little girls in tiny bikinis and short shorts with writing all over the butt....and I wonder what they could possible be thinking, I guess they think it is adorable?

There is no way on God's green earth that I would allow my seven or nine year old daughter to that dance routine! Call me an old fogey.

Oh, THAT'S the trick! Don't tell them they're behaving sexually. Well, there ya go! It'll be the little secret of everyone in the audience and on the Internet. ;)

Watch out ladies- apparently we're just "catty".

The kids are only "aged" by this if they are taught the sexual meaning behind their moves. To them, they are just having fun.

Reminds me of the movie/book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". Remember when the boys said, "How can a butt be cute?"

By the time kids are that age, they know a whole lot more about sex and sexuality than you're giving them credit for. And unfortunately, a lot of them are getting it WRONG because their parents don't give them correct information in order to preserve their innocence.

Nah.

Really? You must not read a whole lot of posts here.

Kinda makes you wonder if any of the parents checked the background of the dance instructor?

Yes, really. I've been here since '99. I've read plenty. And I stand by my post. The whole concept that a CHILD doing dance moves that are considered SEXUAL for an adult woman, is not dancing sexually...and even ADORABLY...IS downright bizarre.

:confused3

To who? :confused3

The moves, while they may have been sexual if adult women (or older teens) were doing them looked absolutely adorable (and yes, innocent) when the little girls do them.

Did you see them drag their fingers over their tongues in a sexual manner:scared1:

What the heck is wrong with the adults screaming and cheering in the background?

It was really an uncomfortable thing to watch.

LOL - some of these posts already have these girls pregnant at 15 and working at strip clubs their entire lives. :rolleyes1

I saw an innocent bunch of little girls having a great time dancing to a very popular song - and doing it exceptionally well. They had expressions of pure joy on their faces for most of that routine. I didn't see anything sexually overt or suggestive. Their costumes were not conservative - but what dance costumes are?

I guess we see what we want to see.

ITA. :thumbsup2

If everyone would remove their minds from the gutter and look at it as a DANCE routine that is bascially normal dance steps taught in any jazz and/or hip hop class and take a good look at the talent of the girls that are dancing, maybe the routine could be appreciated.

BTW, at many dance schools the parents do not even see the routine until the competition or recital; so the parents may not have even seen it until this video was made.

ETA: I went back and looked at the video again to see if I missed something on the costumes. What do your kids swim in? turtlenecks? The bottoms were boy shorts and quite long enough, the top was larger than a two piece swim suit. I don't get what ya'll are complaining about with the costume. Most dance costume do show thier legs and arms and a lot show their stomachs. Exactly what are you all expecting to see.

To me. That's who. :confused3 What don't you get? Obviously, you feel that a child who imitates dance moves considered SEXUAL for an adult woman, ISN'T dancing "sexually". Again...yes, that whole idea IS one of the most bizarre things *I've" read on the DIS. Again...yes, I've read a lot on the DIS in 11 years.

:confused3

EWWWWWW! There are no words... poor kids. It's a kiddie burlesque show not much different from Moulin Rouge, blech

That’s right.

Pull on your GoGo Boots, thrust your hips, spread your legs and lick your fingers for all the men in the audience.

How cute.

:rolleyes1

My best friend did her dance routines at the bus stop- in the hall at school- on the playground- in her backyard- in her room- in her kitchen......... believe me, we all saw plenty of her dance routines and NONE of them looked like that. :scared1:
