I have a stay booked at the DVC AKV in a 1 bedroom club level. The AKL concierge emailed me before my 180 day mark to let me know they could book dining for me. I called them and they filled out a sheet with my requests. The CM immediately warned me that they would probably not be able to fulfill my requests since they were popular restaurants - BOG, CM, and Boma. Sure enough, they were only able to secure Boma for me, and at a later time for dinner than what I requested.
Then I discovered that Chef Mickeys was adding brunch time slots. So I emailed the AKL concierge and requested a brunch date before booking was open, again giving them the opportunity to book on the first day possible. They said they would try to book it for me. Two weeks after the booking window opened I still had not heard from them, so I had to contact them. Three days later (even though their auto response email says they will respond within 24 hours) they emailed back and said they were not able to book a brunch time. Luckily I didn't count on them and I booked a brunch myself for a different day when the booking window opened just as a back up plan.
I am wondering why I have better success on my own than I do through a "concierge" service?? I thought the concierge would have better access to booking than I do. It doesn't seem to be a real service. I am hoping that the lounge offerings will be worth the added points, since the pre-booking services have been disappointing. I wish now that I had just tried to book BOG and CM on my own at my 180 day mark.
Has anyone had better luck?
