Every night between 9:00 & 10:00 I break out in to hives. Sometimes on my upper legs, most times on my inner arms, tummy, back & chest. I've not been to the doctor yet because by morning they're gone. The only evidence I have from them are the scratch marks I've left on myself when I'm asleep. The medicine I'm on doesn't cause them, I don't have the same snack or anything like that. The only thing I can think of is that I sit in "my" chair. None of my pets have fleas, we haven't changed shampoo, detergent or soap. This has been going on for about a week now & it drives me crazy. They just spontaneously errupt and itch like crazy!!!! Any ideas???

I'd definately go and see your doc. There's got to be something triggering them.

I'd start writing down what you eat, where you sit, anything that is one the chair, what you are wearing, etc. You might find a connection.

Honestly stress can cause them. Do you start thinking Oh goodness its 9 o'clock I'm fixing to break out???

Seriously that can do it! If you start thinking your thumb is hurting and you believe it, your thumb can hurt.

I've been through so many years of anxiety panic, hypochondria control that I know all the triggers....LOL!

Hugs and good luck with it and if it doesn't stop I would go to the Dr.

sure sounds like stress. I would go and get it checked out to be on the safe side. Hope you get to feeling better...:D

I had it for 4 years it is called idiopathic uticaria every night when I came home from work I would break out but all the hives would be gone in 30 min. you can try taking claritan or benadryl before they happen to break the cycle. Nothing worked for me until I switched hours and my job:sunny:

in high school this happened to me and I never found a pattern, cause or anything!

My lips swelled up huge and I looked like a duck and I got them on my wrists, neck, stomach and face. Steroids, benadryl - nothing worked - but one pill that knocked me out got rid of them - I only took this if my lips swelled b/c there was a fear of my throat swelling.

then as mysteriously as they appeared they disappeared.

Go see your doctor and they can help you with relief but it is possible you will never find the cause

Crazy? Well, maybe we all are, to some extent...

I have a similar problem, but it usually happens a little earlier in the evening and mostly when I'm at work. I work a rotating shift that tends to throw a lot of things off. I asked my doctor about it and he said it had to be an alergy of some sort, but I haven't been able to put my finger on anything.

I think I'm going to look into what mermaidlady said since hers seems to have been work and schedule related.

Wow, brought back old memories.

'Bout 8 years ago, I'd break in hives (legs, feet) every night. No changes to diet, detergents, etc. I even thought my down bedding might have caused it, but no dice. I took OTC antihistimines (sp) to relieve it.

Like Julia & Nick's Mom, it disappeared as mysteriously as it started and I've never had a reoccurrence.

I'd blame it on stress, but I'd been through lots more stressful times before and since ;)

Denise < --- awake at 2:45 am because of stress - but no hives! :)
