Am I crazy?

We drive from Mass. To Hilton Head, SC a lot which is 16 1/2 hours. Have to say the ride there is fine. We leave at 6am and drive 12 hours. We stay overnight in NC and finish the next day. Fun road trip.

Then there is the ride back. NOT FUN! The traffic from Richmond north is always awful no matter what time of day and the ride seems to take forever.

Have you looked into flying out of Philly? Myneighbors do that every February because the rates are much less than New England or New York for February school break. They have four kids so even driving to Philly and flying saves a ton.

We drive to Florida every year from Toronto and always drive straight through!

You are not crazy. We are a family of 5 so it is way cheaper to drive...but in your case, just the 2 of you, I would fly.

Is it crazy to contemplate driving to WDW from NYC in February to save money on airfare? It would be just my BF and I so we can take turns driving down and I figure it'll save us close to $1000 with airfare being between $500-$600 per person roundtrip! Insanity. The trip would be about 16 hours. I figure we would leave on a Friday night around 8pm and drive straight through to arrive by 2pm (ish) on Saturday. Has anyone ever done the drive? Would you recommend it?

Not crazy at all! We've driven every August since 2011, so we don't have to worry about snow. We drive from CT & last year we spent $194 on gas total! Cannot beat that!

Not crazy at all! When we lived in the NYC area, we loved to drive. We would be able to pack whatever we wanted. Gin, vodka, wine, beer, bottled water, snacks galore. When we went to the resort, we realized the money we saved. It was great to have a cocktail or two before dinner in our room. Poolside? We would take our own beverages in a plastic cup. You save more money than airfare.

Not to mention no worries about weighing your luggage.

We drive down from upstate ny every Christmas with our three kids, this year we are pulling our camper down as we are staying at the fort this year

Have you looked into flying from another airport? Airfare may be cheaper out of Philadelphia or Baltimore. We're in the same boat. SWA is $1000 pp and we're a family of 5. So we're thinking of driving to another airport or just driving to Orlando.
Have you ever looked into the auto train
