Am I crazy???

We're shifting more to CS from TS, as well. Which stinks, cuz there are some TS places we love and many others we'd love to try, but the costs are just too much (and my DD13 and DS11 are full-fledged adults now that they are over 9yo. I wonder when they're moving out?:lmao:)

By using CS and eating in our DVC villa it makes no sense to use the DDP, either.

Tricia, depending on the time of year and time of day, it would cost me $500 to eat at those four places (which I really like, btw). Substituting CS would drop the total cost to maybe $200. That's huge.

Is everyone aware that there aren't surcharges for all TS restaurants, just the buffets?

I see lots of people (not just on this thread) saying they're dropping all their TS restaurants, which makes sense if they were all buffets or fixed price.

We went for the holidays this past Christmas and spent 1200. more for food for the same days(15) as last year!!! That is huge. If you are going during holiday times watch out! Between the age cut off for adults with 6 kids and the price increase for the same food.... We are not planning to go back with the kids at all this year. We normally go 3-4 times a year. Our passes are expired and we will not renew for a while.;)
The thing that got me the most was that there were very few holiday extras on the menu this season not like years past where you felt like it was special and ok to pay more to have a WDW holiday:mickeyjum :mickeyjum . Other than some stuffing and extra carved meat at a few buffets. We did not even see one special desert or cookie or anything.:confused3
And to top it off we always eat in AK for X-mass day and the Char at Tuskers (was Dino land before this year) did not even have the holiday outfits on they have worn every year since we started going for the holiday. It was just sad . I have pictures with Micky-Goofy Santa with my kids every year but this one...... But I sure payed for the breakfast! Dh put the receipt in the scrap-book! The next trip we plan with the kids may be across town.....:thumbsup2

I think you are overreacting. Its supply and demand. Nobody is forcing you to eat at these places in fact nobody is forcing you to go to Disney World. If Disney wants to charge an extra fee and the place is full then they should charge even more.:rotfl2:

Disney is neither a right nor a charity. No one has to go there. No one has to eat there. They are a business and like any other business, they are in it to make money. The holidays are the busiest times of year, as we all know, hotel rates go up, airfare rises, so the restaurants are keeping pace and raising their prices as well. If it is too much, don't eat there. Disney knows that they have many, many customers who are less price sensitive who will take your place. If no one goes, then maybe they will start dropping their prices but considering that the parks actually CLOSE on some of those days due to the high numbers of people, I think Disney is going to do just fine with the higher prices.

Overreacting? Really?
I had planned on 2 character maelas for our visit, that is an extravagance to me. To find that those meals will cost me $40 more than they will the week previous is a little upsetting. In my world (i know my world is not the norm here on the DIS) $40 is alot of money. That is TWICE what it costs to feed my family at our local fast food establishment.
So yeah, a jack in the price for no reason other than because they can is a bit of a sting.

:lovestruc I think I'm going to cancel all of my ADR's for June and do cs and off site.
