We are big Disney fans (at least 2 trips per year), but am I the only one who thinks Disney has gone too far with the "Holiday Pricing" for certain restaurants? It's one thing to have seasonal pricing for the resorts, but now to charge more for the same food as well?????

your not alone, i think it is outrageous! It will actually deter me from ever going during those timeframes. I am sure it is a marketing ploy to try to push more people into getting the DDP. Its sad that they have taken such advantage of their consumers.

I agree -- we are going this year over spring break (Easter week) and aren't doing many TS restaurants since the price is so crazy. We will eat at the resorts or non-buffet type meals where the prices are a little more reasonable.

I really like disney, but we (family of 5) seem to get as good a value (or better) from an all-inclusive. Disney is starting to price itself out of a good deal for our family. We have to travel school vacations since I work at school and my oldest is in high school -- too hard to take out.

I am not happy with it, either, and we will plan trips either around those dates OR just eat offsite.

It's insulting. Do they do anything special to justify increasing the price and extending the "holiday" season well beyond what is considered a holiday? It's making me second guess a lot of our dining choices, particular since my DD10 is now considered an adult. :confused3 Talk about rubbing salt on the wound.

Our dining plan has been affected by this, which I think completely stinks because the entire length of our stay is during VALUE season, but the last 6 days of our stay are under the "Holiday Upcharge" which totally blows. I am not a happy camper. We had planned to work in a few other TS experiences, but that upcharge is forcing us to more CS instead. It's Disney's loss.

I avoid those days anyway, too crowded for me.

I think the holiday prices are getting steep, but they don't affect me because we always use the dining plan anyway.

I totally agree. I think it is crazy to charge people more for the exact same thing. I imagine many people who go on auto pilot on vacation don't even realize they are paying more becasue it is a holiday. I can't even imagine the discussion that went into making this decision.

No your not crazy...but the pricing is. Besides the fact that there are so many ins/outs of going to Disney the holiday pricing is just one more thing to complicate the mix.

I actually called yesterday to cancel our Chef Mickey's and O'hanas ADRs. For the first time ever, we are going to eat at least one meal off-site. We will be at WDW for 13 days and we scheduled at least one TS meal per day. Chef Mickey's would cost more for us than Le Cellier. It was just not worth it, in our opinion.

We are eating offsite for Easter week for the first time ever. The pricing is ludicrous!

We don't usually travel during these holiday periods, but if we did, this would definitely affect our dining decisions.

Chef Mickey's would cost more for us than Le Cellier.

That quote tells the whole story. Insane. :sad2:

We're going over Easter and it definitely pushed us to do the dining plan. 3 of the places we plan to eat have the holiday surcharge. One adult dinner at Chef Mickey's about pays for the cost of the plan for that day. I agree it's gotten a little out of hand. After this trip both kids will be 'adults' in Disney's eyes and I can't imagine paying these prices for a 10 year old to eat dinner. We'll definitely be doing fewer if any of these meals in the future.

I think it stinks that they charge more for holiday time but then again so do restaurants in the area - not sure why!

My DS10 is now adult prices so 3 adults and 2 kids add up fast. Will rethink how many TS we do.

I'm really reconsidering doing 2 character meals also. It really stinks that since we booked through Shades of Green we can't even get the dining plan.
this is a shoestring of a budget anyway, I just think the price raise is ridiculous!

We're only going to do one character meal (Crystal Palace) on our next trip to the World. Since we are now all "adults" according to Disney, we would be paying $25 and up per person per character meal, which doesn't make any sense because two people in our family eat very lightly at buffets, DS11 and an adult. I can understand the adult being charged full price, but it doesn't make sense to charge children 10 and up full price, even if they don't eat much... Even one year ago, Disney was a lot more budget-friendly than it is now.

Disney, you are taking a step (or many) in the wrong direction with your choices to charge higher prices for the same food served at a more crowded time of year. :sad2:

If we was going during the surcharge, I would eat offsite or CS I think its outrageous they are doing this.

It has affected our plans, and we're taking it one step further as well. We're not doing our previously planned ADR's of Tusker House, Boma, Ohana's and Chef Mickey. For those days/meals we're going off site for the entire day and giving our money to other parts of Orlando.

This doesn't work for everyone, but it actually fits into our vacation plans quite well.
