I can't believe I'm even considering this and, honestly, I don't know why I'm even posting here because you people here aren't the most OBJECTIVE when it comes to going to Disney.
Maybe I'm looking for someone to either talk me out of this or talk me into it?
Here's the deal. My DS's (11) spring break starts on Good Friday and goes all the way through the week of Easter. DD (14) is in public school--her break is the week before Easter but she will be in New York. Since DS is on his own, my mom (who also works) agreed to help out with the "daycare" aspect of my son's spring break. Now, my mom is not one to sit around, so she's been trying to figure out what to do for some of that week. She was thinking about visiting Philadelphia for 2-days or so but when we looked it up on the 'net it looks so, um, BORING....
I then said "why don't you two just fly down to Florida and hit Orlando?" We checked the airfare and Airtran actually has a decent price. She then said "I don't want to go all the way down there alone, deal with the airport/flight, etc. without another adult." Okay. I told her I wished I could go.
But here is the thing. My mom is taking off to help me out so I can GO TO WORK!! We aren't really accomplishing much if I go on this trip, now are we.
Also, my leave is not unlimited. I have to have a thyroid scan this summer (1 week off), plus my kids are home for the summer and I need to take a day off here and there to keep them occupied.
But....it sure would be nice to go to Disney with a smaller group. No DD (a rolling-her-eye teenage), no DH (who likes to spend too much $$$$). It would just be me, my mom, and DS who is still at that great age where everything is wonderful. I know these moments are "not to be missed."
And then, the biggie--EASTER BREAK!!
I've said more than once "I will NEVER go at Easter and NEVER go at Christmas." Never say Never, right?
So, anyone care to hash this out with me? I guess the point that is getting me is "my leave" and running out of it or going into the hole.
