I have a friend who called to switch her reservation to the AXA code but they were sold out for the room she wanted since there is a limited number of rooms set aside for codes. She calls everyday to see if the code becomes available maybe by someone cancelling a room booked with that code. I told her that once a code is used, that is it, it is gone forever. If the room is cancelled, the code does not go back into CRO's system, it is gone. Same as if a person uses a code then switches to an AP rate, the code is no longer available. I'm pretty sure I'm right, but just wanted to double check so I'm not giving her bad information. Thanks!

That's what I read previously on this board, but this is what happened to me recently...I had a standard room booked at the WL and when the AXA code came out I called to apply it to our ressie. I was told that all the standard rooms were booked and that I would have to upgrade to a wood view to get the discounted rate. I upgraded and got the discount. I called back when the AXB rate was announced and asked if there were any standard rooms available for that discount code. They said there were standard rooms available with the AXA code, so they downgraded me to the standard room at the discounted AXA rate.

I have always heard you should call every day so it sounds to me like this is inventory controlled. There will be x number of rooms per night with the codes. If someone cancels a code room and number falls below x then a discount may be available for the next caller.

More rooms do become available, very often.

I'm not sure if that's due to people canceling or due to Disney putting additional rooms into inventory for the discount, but I've heard from MANY people who were able to get a discount code applied, days or weeks after they were first told there were no rooms left.

It definitely pays to persist.
