Am I being rude?

I even held the line for a single mom and her son because time was running out and the Rangers were getting close to leaving and he wanted 2 more sigs for his autograph book. I stood in the one line and his mom and he went in the other. My son was done. No one had a problem that I saw.
I'm guesssing the kids in back of you that waited in line and didn't get a Power Ranger autograph while this kid did might have had a problem with it.

Just in case anyone cares, this is what OP said on post #9 of Page 1

See that is I was thinking. As far as rides go as long as you are in the same cart you are not taking anything away from anyone else, and in fact you are saving the rest of the line from listening to a whining child....not that I ever did this (my nephew is great about standing in line as long as he has his camera to divert his attention). As far as the character line goes the reason why i thought it was ok is because it would be the same about of time for everyone else if I stood in line and got the autograph or if I stood in line then he came over and was the one to get the autograph. (this is my justifying why I did it, not that I should be able to do it.) Thank you to all who answered, you are probab;y right and we will not do it next trip.

She won't do it anymore, so can we just put the moral debate to rest?

The kids in back of her knew there was somebody in front of them. What difference does it make in the end whether it is the adult that was there, or a sub?

Why? :confused3

Look at this scenario. Child is in line #1 with 10 people in it. Mom is in line #2 with 11 people in it. The 11th person, being only one person, is only in one line. Child finishes with line #1 and hops over to Mom's line and gets is second character meet. #11 person doesn't get anything because they stopped the line at the 10th person. So... Child gets to meet two characters and the 11th person (child or adult, doesn't matter) got to meet none.
I get it! If the mom weren't waiting in the second line, holding the child a second spot, that eleventh person would have been the tenth person and WOULD have gotten to the character!

If someone else did the same thing - it woudn't bother me a bit. And as far as the other people around - if it bothers them I've never seen it - no dirty looks or questions - and quite frankly - I wouldn't care.
Well, no, of course it wouldn't bother you

Of course it wouldn't bother you. How could you possibly get upset about something that you do to other people?
I do believe that you don't care, though. If you had the slightest consideration for those around you, you'd probably think twice about your grocery store antics.
VERY well stated! Where's the standing ovation icon? :thumbsup2

Why what? Why is the OP probably not going to enable her nephew to be in two places at once? Or why should we put the debate to rest? :teeth:

Why put the debate to rest. :)

I can never understand why someone who isn't a mod will step in and tell people the case is closed. Well, if you're tired of the debate, step away! I love a good debate. :thumbsup2

Hmmm . . . quote: management and Guest Relations say this is the policy, they do not really back us up when it comes down to it.

So some unidentified CM is quoted by a member of this forum as suggesting that this is "against the rules", which is later described as an unwritten "policy" that Disney will not support if enforcement is attempted by its employees.

Pretty "official" rule you have there. ;)

I'm not participating in this thread to be confrontational -- I simply enjoy the debate. And I think it's fascinating that what some perceive as "unfair" is viewed by others as merely harmless practicality. I'm quite aware that others do not share my opinion on this issue, and I do respect those who would disagree with me. On the other hand, as another poster just recently suggested, I don't necessarily defer to the most sensitive persons in a particular group when drawing the line between rudeness and practicality. Most everyone in this thread has tried to be reasonable when discussing their viewpoint, and only one thing has been conclusively determined -- there's a lot of room for disagreement.

It appears I'm more prone to rudeness than I thought. On the other hand, I might suggest some of you may be a bit hypersensitive in taking offense to a situation that doesn't warrant it. Maybe there's somewhere I can look to find a place in between.

Or if you want to go, I'll hold your spot in line. ;)

1) I am the cast member and I am about as identified as I am going to get on this forum. More identified than most and waay more identified than I ever meant to be.

2) Oh, this IS a written policy, just not written out on guest material. Disney can be very wishy-washy when striving to make EVERYONE happy. And it is quite often the rude, inconsiderate guests that don't feel the rules apply to them or that the rules are open to interpretation that wind up at GR to complain. GR appeases them, we feel that we have not been "backed up".

3) I think that it is funny that pages after I posted the official line, people are still saying they don't see a problem and consider it open for debate. I guess most do not read the entire topic as I do.

4) Universal does print out on its guest maps that line jumping is not allowed. Weird, huh?

Not trying to be confrontational, I am just someone that has to deal with this and other things (ie - what's up with people climbing over/under ropes? what does a rope stretched across something mean in the "real" world) on a daily basis.
