Am I being evil...sigh

I'll be the lone descendant...I would watch the child...and have my kids there too. Your SIL was obviously desperate enough to call you and ask for help. I wouldn't turn down family for some puking. There are inherent risks, yes, but someone needs help. Plus who knows where the little one would end up feeling miserable. Better to be with someone they know and are comfortable with.

We're not exempt if you work-they figure if you have child care for your job, you can have it for jury duty. I told my DB that she should call-how can they argue if you have a vomiting child? I don't know what is happening. They might call my mom and then I'll really feel guilty. Ughh. I would take any other illness-flu,strep etc.

I am exempt until my daughter is 12 (getting close!) I was last called when she was 3 and even though I work full time I asked if they could gaurentee that I would be home by 3 (I worked 7-3 back then) because I only had child care until 3....same thing now with the school bus...it comes home at 3 and unless they can assure me that I will be home at 3- sorry...no different than a stay at home mom getting out of it...I have child care designated hours and other than that I have to be here. There was a box to check off that said are you the parent of a child 12 or under who's physical or mental welbeing would be jepordized if you were to serve jury duty and I checked yes and mailed it away!

Heck no, I would only take a puking kid if you were having a medical procedure done that could not be canceled.

I love my sister and her kids but there is no way I would watch them if they were that sick unless she was going to be fired from her job. She would never even ask anyone to watch her children if they were vomitting.

I'll join you....if she made every effort to get out of jury duty and they still didn't excuse her then I would take the kid. It isnt' that hard to keep kids seperated in another room and not allow them to contact your kids. Just lots of hand washing and a good wipe down.

I would not take the kid if it was for something silly that could be rescheduled.
