I think you kind of screwed up by not mentioning that it was a potluck when you called to invite your family
. They all should have offered or asked to bring something, but if you didn't say something in the initial conversation about everyone pitching in it is going to be a little awkward to call them again and ask for them to bring a dish to pass.
I had a bbq last summer and I called the neighbor to invite her and I let her know I was making burgers and dogs and cheesy potatoes, etc. and she offered to bring cheesy potatoes
. My signature dish! LOL. So we had dueling potato dishes to go with the meat
. (mine were better
)
