Am I being a hypocondriac?

I'm leaving for the doc's office in about 10 minutes, but I'm not sure if I'm blowing this out of proportion or not.

Thursday I had the sinus attack from hell, but it was brief (thanks to my best friend Zyrtec!) but when my sinuses cleared, my right ear didn't. lots of pressure and I couldn't get it to pop. but it didn't hurt and not other symptoms. By Saturday it hadn't clears so I called my doc and they squeezed me in. Doc said middle ear tube was likely blocked due to irritation from allergies/sinus attack and said to take Allegra-D and come back in two weeks.

Today, the pressure is gone but my ear still feels clogged, sounds are muffled. And it hurts like a....well lets just say it really hurts! And my jaw even feels swollen. So I called and I'm going in again, but am I just being silly or is there reason to be concerned? I haven't had an ear infection since I was 6.

I actually have has similar symptoms since Mother's Day. I was told it was strep throat or my thyroid acting up, although my strep test was negative they put me on a z pack and on my way. Well three weeks later my ear still hurts from time to time. I am interested to see what your doctor says. Maybe I should go back myself.

Sounds like an ear infection. You're doing the right thing by going to the dr.

I had a double ear infection in April, and I am over 40. The pain was awful. I missed 3 days of work.
I vote with going to the dr. The worst thing that can happen is that you get told it is just congestion again.

I have had a double ear infection since a week ago Saturday- then the sinus issues started then it moved to the chest- been 10 days of crap for me LOL- out of work since May 31st with this junk.

I'm back!

I'm glad I went, it IS an ear infection so the doc started me on antibiotics, and told me to take Advil for the pain (and to keep taking Allegra though I mean to ask him if I can switch back to zyrtec since it tends to work better for me). I've taken both the antibiotic and the advil and feel a bit better already. Took the rest of the day off from work but I'll likely go back tomorrow. But I also work from home so that's a huge help.

I'm not much of a complainer and dislike going to the doctor unless it's necessary, but something just did not seem right with all of this. I'm glad I listened to my instincts.

Glad you went to the doctor, Op! I.still get a ton of ear infections, and they certainly can be brutal! Feel better
