Am I alone on this?

Ok, I know I don't rank up there with Barb, but I have been on 3 cruises and have the 4th one booked for next August. We just got back on Saturday and had a great time. BUT - I think I could have had a better time if the shows had changed, I know some are great but when you know exactly what they are going to say its time for a change. Although my husband did win the large Mickey at the end of WWTBAM. The cruise directors comments that she heard all week from the passengers were the same as last year. I know there are more and more return cruisers, this year the CC reception was held in both clubs. I'm going to write DCL and suggest that's it's time for a change, food too. Anyone with me? I know they listen to the masses.

After just returning from my 8th Disney cruise with my 9th later this year, I agree.

Although every cruise is a different experience and I always find something new and fun to do, I am DEFINITELY ready for a menu change.

As for the shows, honestly all that matters to me is Disney Dreams and as long as they keep that I'm happy.

I know DCL definitely does listen, and they do continue to refine and improve their cruises, but for the multiple cruisers it would be nice to see a few more new things each time.

Not offering new shows is the one main reason that I can't get my husband to go on another cruise. He says that is why he likes going on different lines and ships, because there are always new shows...

I think its time for a new menu in the resturants too. Maybe they could tweek the shows a little and change them some. We love the shows and are going with 5 newbies in Dec. We have told them all about the shows and they can't wait.

I agree with everything you said, markey. Unfortunately, changing the shows is not as simple as just doing it because they want to (and we want them to). Any stage production the quality of DCL's involves not only extensive time and money in set design and rehearsals, but also the time to put it together. Unless they brought on an entirely new set of CM's for the show, <I>when </I> would they have time to rehearse? Most of the entertainers in the show also seem to work either entertaining or performing various other duties during the cruise. That said, I have heard that they <I>do</I> plan to change some of the shows <I>and</I> the menus. It just takes them <I>time</I> to put it all together. And remember, on any particular cruise, while a certain percentage are repeat cruisers, I would think the vast majority are not. To them, it is all fresh and new.

I don't know, we're not bored with WDW. Just saw the Lion King show at AK for the fourth or fifth time. And we've seen the Muppet 3D show about 6-7 times. And don't make me count the number of times we've been to Millionaire. Maybe they should do something about the shows that aren't that great, and a little change to the menus every few months wouldn't hurt. It will all be new to us, and we probably won't repeat cruise for a while. I guess it helps that I have memory problems, Illuminations seems a little different to me every time! Diana

As someone said before changing the shows on DCL is a much bigger task than on other cruise lines because of the type of production. We have been on a few other cruise lines and a lot of times the shows consist of a comedian or one person singing. This is an easy show to change, you just get a new comedian or a new singer. To change a Disney show would not be so easy.

Not sure if I misunderstod your point or not, but they rotate the cast every six months. The cast to be rehearses in Toronto and then come on board two weeks prior to their actual start to block everything out on stage. So I would imagine if they wanted to change the show, they would make the change with the start of the new cast.

Well, you only partially misunderstood. I am aware that they rotate the cast. My point was that they could not just, say, decide to change the show for next month, or whatever. Their decision and their revamping of everything would need to fit the cast rotation.

I tink the occasional new show keeps it interesting but I just returned from a 7-day and attended only the opening day show (assuming you are talking about the theatre shows). I think hubby went to one other one. Our absense was probably due to "been there, done that", but there were other things to do.

We spent a lot of time in the Rocking Bar D (or D Bar - can't keep it straight), occasionally went to Dualing Pianos. Free Reign was GREAT every night and the succession of comedians was great. I was a little disappointed in the movie selection but it was probably appropriate for the kid audience.

We'll be going on our 5th Disney cruise. I agree that's it's time for a menu change. I no longer have a problem deciding what night is a good Palo night, I think every night is. As far as the show go, I am o.k. with them staying the same I now feel that I am not missing anything if I don't go to them. I really enjoy the quiet relaxing times while everyone is in the Walt Disney Theatre.

I am going on my 4th Disney cruise in October and also am ready for a change. New room service offerings as well as different food at Dinner. I think adding a nee show would also be great.

I'd love to see them do a stage production of The Lion King. By all means, WWTBAM needs to go. It was long... boring... and for goodness sakes the one from TV has been cancelled! Time to retire this one for good I'm afraid

Well, we just got back and the last place we found ourselves was at the shows. On our one other cruise we found the show to be more appropriate for younger families. We concentrated on Rockin Bar D, the 50s, 70s and 80s shows were excellent. There were several fun comedians and game shows. This was great entertainment in an intimate setting. That's what I would recommend.

I want to go back next year!!!

My vote is change the shows and the food. At least throw a few changes into the menu, and have a new show on board.

My third disney cruise is in Nov. and I would love some surprises!!!

Just got back recently from our 6th DCL cruise (8/3 sailing) and agree that it is time for a show change.

This cruise we went to the opening show, Disney Dreams, WTTBAM and the closing show. We did other things the other nights.

I agree that it would be a huge undertaking to bring in new shows, but come on....this is Disney, the king of talent and entertainment. They certainly have the resources to put together a new show.

I am sure they could come up with new shows and rehearse them in Toronto with a new cast for months and then bring them on board without disrupting any routines.

I don't mind the food at all on the cruise, I always find something I am interested in, but the shows need to be changed (except DD, that should stay as their signature show).

This is why I'm torn about doing our 4th DCL vs. trying RCCL Voyager or Explorer. I have the "been there, seen that show, eaten that meal, done that" feeling also. I love the familiarity and magic DCL has to offer, but would like some new experiences as well. I'm just glad that they came out with the Western Itinerary or I wouldn't have been able to convince DH to go again.

I think we should all e-mail Disney with our requests for new menus and a change in some of the shows...maybe receiving all the e-mails will "get the process going"....I have found they have been very welcoming of comments...

I agree with all of you. Even my kids would like to see a change in the menu. We are going on our 3rd DC in April. My kids are hoping that they might update the kids menus. Every single entree is served with french fries. They need to make some changes and offer different choices for the kids. If anyone has the email address I will put in my "two cents worth" for the cause!!!

Cruised the Wonder several weeks ago and attended the Culinary Presentaion by the head chef of AP. He said a menu change was in the works....I can't remember if he said Sept. or Oct., but it is coming. If anyone has the opportunity to catch this half hour demonstration, you should do it. It was fun and informative. If I remember correctly it was on the day at sea, early in the day.
