I agree with this statement. I always put my lotions & sprays in a ziploc when I travel. Boy was I glad I did when my entire sunscreen bottle popped open in my checked luggage and would've been all over my clothes.

She IS on an international flight. Therefore the agricultural regulations do apply in this case, whether in carry on or checked luggage.

OP, if you really do want to bring milk, juice, pop, water, Lysol, fruit, etc honestly our recommendation of Garden Grocer or a trip to the store really makes the most sense. A gallon of water at Garden Grocer is listed for $1,49; a 24 pack of 17 ounces $7,99. A can of Lysol is $6,89. You are stressing about making your domestic to transborder connection, yet you are making it more difficult for yourself by trying to pack these items.

To me the stress is worth the few dollars more it may cost you.

Will you make it through with your prohibited items? Possibly. People do every day. But every day people are also stopped, denied entry, delayed and miss their flight, and/or have an entry into their profile. I cross borders somewhere in the world almost every week, and I see it happen virtually every single time. It may not have happened to people here, but it does happen every day.

I was once on a bus from Canada to the US. Another passenger had a Subway sandwich in her purse, and she was told to toss it. She was in tears and the guard relented and told her that she could take it IF she removed all prohibited items - the meat, the tomatoes, the lettuce, the onions. She was left with bread covered in sandwich spread. Of the 18 or so passengers on the bus, only 3 made it through the border.

I've seen families turned away due to a stray orange or apple. Many people here will tell you that it's 'fine' to take those items, but if you are stopped, and miss your flight, or turned away, or you or your children have an agricultural record, it will impact you.

Honestly, for the few dollars really do consider saving yourself the stress and worry over these items. It will make your vacation more enjoyable if you start it off right.

As a disclaimer I myself have never used Garden Grocer, but they do get good reviews here.

Thank you - I am not familiar with them as I haven't used a shopping service before (nor have I ever purchased Lysol either, but I did manage to find it on the Garden Grocer site)

www.drugstore.com is another great delivery service; www.amazon.com also has a large grocery and hygiene section, and I use both of those regularly. Drugstore.com often has coupons and discounts for new customers. Just be aware that the convention resorts tend to charge a package handling fee for shipped items.

Just wanted to add, if you have a child with you and you are looking for the fruit cup to have on the flight, just let them know at security that you have it for the child, take it out etc and it shouldn't be a problem. Unless you are flying from Heathrow...don't they not allow anything??

Again, it IS a problem on international flights, and the OP is flying internationally. She must declare all fruits as per the link above, or risk a fine or worse. It is not a security issue, but a customs and immigration issue.

Why not ask your airline instead of continuing to post questions about everything other than the kitchen sink? Your airline should be able to provide the most accurate guidance.

If you are not familiar with the regulations of your country and airline visiting their websites is always a good place to start.

The more you know before you travel the better your trip will be. Usually not taking a lot of stuff makes it easier when traveling.

You cannot bring ANY liquid past security unless it is in a container 3.4 ounces or less, and those containers can fit inside a one-quart clear zip top bag (at least in the US).

Don't know of any exceptions besides prescription medications and baby formula.

Thanks, i have my liquids in a 200ml bottle, though there is less than 100ml in the bottle. to be sure that i get to keep everything, i'm going out to buy some new little clear bottles.

You are better off buying product in 100ml bottles or less, rather than buying those generic clear travel bottles with no label. They are often turned away at security as they don't have an 'official' product label and/or aren't marked with volume. Several of us have reported seeing those tossed at security.

You cannot bring a half full 200ml bottle and claim it as 100ml, but you are best off either buying travel size product or reusing an empty but labelled product container, filled with your preferred product.

Honestly, again, don't waste your time with those, just go to the travel section of Pharmaprix/Shoppers or where ever you shop for your toiletries, and buy the travel size of the product.
