Thanks, i have my liquids in a 200ml bottle, though there is less than 100ml in the bottle. to be sure that i get to keep everything, i'm going out to buy some new little clear bottles.

Security will not 'guesstimate' the actual contents existing in a container ml permitted. The containers must be 3.4 ounce/100 or smaller. Clear, apparent travel-size containers not marked with the size are also risky. Anything that doesn't comply is at risk of being taken and discarded.


Have you checked the site recommended in one of your 'can I bring/has anyone brought' threads? I don't know the Canada website, but if you check www.tsa.gov it's pretty explicit on the containers, packaging, permitted/banned items, etc. You still need the Canadian site for its restrictions on exporting/importing certain products, but the TSA site should tell you pretty much everything you need to know.

I swear that they have someone who monitors this site and answers all the DIS questions over there about what is permitted. They even answer that frequently asked deodorant question, and they talk about mascara and lipstick in detail.

And here is what they say about container size.

LIQUIDS, AEROSOLS AND GELS
Containers of liquids, aerosols or gels in your carry-on must be 100 ml/100 grams (3.4 oz) or less.

All containers must fit in 1 clear, closed, resealable plastic bag no more than 1 litre (1 quart) in capacity. The approximate dimensions of a one litre/quart bag are 15.24 cm by 22.86 cm (6 in. by 9 in.) or 20 cm by 17.5 cm (8 in. by 7 in.)

At the screening point, take your plastic bag out of your carry-on and place it in one of the provided trays.

Drink or discard any beverages in containers over 100 ml before security screening.

Any containers over 100 ml should be placed in checked baggage.

Here is what a TSA agent has to say about unmarked bottles:

The bottles DO have to be CLEARLY marked that they are under the 3.4 ounce limit. If there is no marking, the TSO is NOT permitted to make a judgement call if the item in question is or is not under the 3.4 ounces.

Since OP is from Canada, they may be interested in what someone from PEI has to say about those travel bottles.

I went through this last year, and learned my lesson! I put some of my (expensive) face cream into an unmarked film container...STUPID, but at least there wasn't much of it! The TSA agent understandably took it away, with the comment that "How do we know that it's actually face cream"? I felt like saying (but didn't, because I have common sense) "Well, do you test EVERY bottle? How do you KNOW that what's in the bottle is what the bottle says it is"?

I think there are 2 "types" of unmarked bottles; Type A will say "Pert Plus Shampoo" but not have a 3 oz symbol stamped on it, and Type B is a bottle sold in a drug store (that you fill yourself) that has a 3 oz symbol stamped on it somewhere. PERSONALLY, I have had better luck with Type A because the bottle LOOKS like it is 3 oz.

But I have to agree (again) with MrsNick and kaytieeldr. OP, you really need to read the links yourself and understand them. You have already been given incorrect information in this thread, and no security agent will care when you tell them that someone on a Disney message board told you that it was ok to take certain items which violate the rules. At best they will roll their eyes and discard your item, at worst you will be fined and documented.

On another thread you accused us of mocking you or 'having fun' with you - I sincerely believe that the vast majority of posters post out of genuine concern for you. Even the person who posted incorrect information I doubt did it to be malicious.

But you really need to understand the rules yourself, and you are best served by reading the very clear CATSA site. You will also need to understand the TSA rules, because when you fly home, TSA rules will apply at MCO, and TSA and CATSA rules do vary.

Also be cautious of "declare your item and let them know it if for a child- they will let you keep it." They will allow water and formula for baby bottles, think of it as falling under "medically necessary"- a baby can not usually drink standard convenience store drinks of any kind.

They did not let my dd age 3 keep her bottle of water. It was a standard bottle of drinking water, not under 3 ounces, and we were made to throw it away. (I was fine with that, I just forgot she was carrying it.)

Being a child does not exempt someone from the rules. Being a baby who can not safely drink the beverages sold beyond the security check point makes it a health issue, and health issues create flexibility.

Well it was more of a question, then information.

And for travelling with kids, that is something that must depend on the agent and what they will let you through with. I have DS who was over 2 and had a sippy cup of water and one with milk and didn't have trouble, so you never know!
