Okay.. I might sound like a total idiot here... I feel dumb asking.. but...
Why do you buy points at different places? Like, what is the point of having ... 100-200 at one resort and then 50-100 at another (or any other amount.. I just used them as an example)
Thanks for all your help and input!
For us, we mostly want to stay at BLT. But it would be great to have a smaller set of points at other resorts so that with banking and borrowing, we can stay there with home booking advantage every 2-3 years. For instance, 75 points at BCV would get us 5 nights in a 1br in pretty much any summer month and we'd have a few points left over in many other warmer months in seasons requiring fewer points. 60 points at OKW would get us 5 nights in a grand villa during early December every 3 years. For things like a grand villa, you REALLY need that home booking advantage...or a tremendous amount of luck and good timing.
Plus you can combine your points for bookings at the 7 month window or closer in whenever possible, giving you options for longer stays, more frequent trips or bigger accommodations.
