Just know from experience. I am the power of attorney for my Grandmother who has dementia and Alzheimers. We were lucky that I had a basic POA before her getting really confused but found that it wasnt specific enough. We went to an atty who specializes in Medicare/Medicaid and elder situations and we had to redo the POA to be more specific so I had access to everything for her.

Disney Doll's advice is excellent advice. I second everything she said wholeheartedly. I was going to type more but I am trying to keep my two "cute" children from killing each other while I type...

Get copies of all the tests you've had done already. That way if you go to get a second opinion or go to see a geriatrician they may not have to repeat some of the tests.

I agree with the other 2 nurses (that makes 3 of us), make sure ALL meds even over the counter are taken to the Doctor. Get a good physical, lab work and workup. Hope everything works out for you and your family. P &PD
