We got the 40% postcard deal & decided to jump ahead & book WL for Aug 10-17. After waiting almost 2 weeks, DH found out today that he cannot go that week! I was in a panic all day at work...I was afraid we wouldn't be able to take advantage of the 40% b/c kids only have 1 additional week before school starts. As soon as I got home from work, I called to modify our ressie. Very helpful CM was able to change everything...we now have courtyard view instead of woods but I was just thankful that we could still take our vacation. I am now starting over with our touring plan & ADR's....oh well. Remember, make sure your vacation is approved before booking your WDW vacation!!!

Glad to hear it got all worked out for you. I know how it feels to have vacation yanked out from under you because of work. Have a great time!:thumbsup2

We aren't going until next March/April but I already put in my vacation request at work. Originally we thought we were going to go in October and I had that request in and approved at work and was bugging DH to do the same. He said don't worry I can get the time off. He is not at all a planner and way to laid back for his own good sometimes. I said I don't care if you get the time off or not, if you tell me not to worry about it and I plan out an entire vacation then you can't get off I will take the girls and go without you. Didn't phase him in the least :confused3

At least you were able to get everything changed.

I tend to do this a lot, book the vacation and then ask if I can have that time off! So far, so good! :rotfl:

I've got 22 days and a wake up... I guess I need to ask for the days off!!!:rotfl2: I may be disappointed if I don't do it soon!!!

I had the same thing happen to me, but was also able to work it out. Glad to hear you were able work it all out and will get your magical vacation!

I do this too. I book my trip: airfare, hotel, the whole sha-bang and then tell my boss about it about a month or two ahead of time. Of course I don't plan my trips for times when I know I can't be gone, though.

Glad it worked out for you. I always plan my vacation then request the days off. I work on a small team in children's hospital and we work our vacations out. I would be crushed if mine was denied.

Unfortunately, even AFTER his gets approved it gets UNapproved once in a while..

My wedding was pushed back three times due to operational Commitments.

Lessee:
Kosovo ruined the first 2 wedding dates

a couple of hijacked airplanes completely screwed up a trip to Hawai'i

the Discruise we have scheduled for Sept 2009 may get canceled due his being somewhere dry and sandy...and I don't mean the beach somewhere.....

It really is a pain trying to plan something major occasionally. Only eight years to retirement though, then I can plan to my hearts content and not have to worry about his job getting in the way!

I'm bad about that too - I go ahead and book my trip & then email myself at work the dates & then put in for the time off. So far, so good, too!!! :surfweb:

Sounds like your DH works for the same guy that DH and I work for (thin guy, white beard, tall hat with stars and stripes on it, pointing finger? :rotfl: ) We have the same problem and have learned that when we pay for something in advance and can't get a full refund at the last minute, we always buy travel insurance that covers revocation of leave and deployments, just in case! Hasn't happened yet, but you know Murphy and his law. The one time we don't buy it, we'll need it.

Oh yeah.. always do insurance as well as get a military clause( that saved our bacon for the wedding!)

I'll be in your neck of the woods soon for some follow up testing/appointments ..although next time I am bringing the GPS. you need it in order to find your way around NNMC. :headache:
