Always enough umbrellas?

We are doing Castaway and Playa Mia. Will we have any issues finding umbrellas and chairs? All of us burn like we've been dipped in Crisco. We use rashguards and hats and sunscreen, but if we can't get umbrellas for our party of 7 it's not gonna be pretty.

Do we need to rush to get to the beach to claim one?

Yes, you will want to be some of the first off the ship and immediately find an umbrella. There are far from enough for every family to have an umbrella. While there are many, there are not nearly enough for everyone, especially if you’re on one of the larger ships.

We can normally find chairs although may have to gather from a few locations if you’re not first off. We have always been able to find chairs but normally need to hunt and gather as we don’t rush off the ship.

You should not have any issues at Castaway Cay, even if you are not right off. There are way more chairs and umbrellas than people. Can't help with your other location.

You should be fine at Castaway if you are willing to walk.

Is it faster to take the tram or walk, in terms of getting a chair/umbrella?

no need to rush, there has always been enough chairs and umbrellas.

Playa Mia will bring umbrellas to anyone who asks, they aren't set up beforehand. There was no charge (we were on the DCL excursion) but we did tip the man who set them up. There is also a very large covered area by the buffet if you need to get completely out of the sun for a while!

Just got off a cruise on the Dream over elementary spring break (Easter) and there were NOT enough umbrellas. More than enough chairs, though. I think our cruise was probably particularly crowded, though. And we found shade throughout the day at the splash pad, lunch pavilion, etc.
