Alternative to Rt. 4?

Driving south on I-95, does anyone take an alternative route to Orlando other than Rt. 4 from Daytona to Orlando? Going through Orlando always seems like a nightmare, and last time we were there there was lots of construction.

IF you are heading to WDW you can take the 417 exit off I-4 and miss most of the traffic. It is a toll road, but well worth the price if you are going through Orlando at a busy time.

You can also continue on 95 past daytona and take the beeline over to Orlando. I think that mileage wise this is longer but depending on the time of day and the massive amount of contsruction on I4 this may be a quicker route.

That's a good suggestion. We did it in November and it was a much easier ride.

The Beeline (sr 528) is about 60 miles south of the 95/4 interchange. Then I would say it is about 20 - 30 miles on the beeline to Orlando.

ps. the beeline is a toll road also.

event with the BEELINE you still have to take I-4 for about 5 miles to wdw however traffic isn't bad (compared to downtown Orlando) there and currently there is no construction there.

We have done both the Greenway--417-- and the Beeline. We have vowed never to do I-4 again north of Orlando. The Beeline is actually a very pretty route through a protected area. The only problem is that after all the driving, you're ITCHING to turn on to I-4 when it says Orlando!
