Okay, I'm crazy enough to ask... has anyone ever alternated onsite with offsite nights to save money?
I just got $8 flights through Spirit for me and my son Detroit-Orlando August 9 - August 14. (My $8 flights really cost $48 with tax. Ha!) I got this great idea to try and go as cheaply as we could. My son and I are low maintenance and are flexible. I figured we'd stay on I-Drive, get bus passes and really strive to save as much money as possible.
My problem? I really want to stay onsite for FOTL passes. Okay, so maybe stay at RPR Tuesday night to get FOTL on Mon and Tue. But then I'm thinking, I love the pool there. It would be a shame to pay all that money to stay there and not spend some time by the pool. So then I think that we could stay at RPR on Monday and Wednesday nights, squeeze 4 days out of two nights and stay offsite Sun, Tue and Thu.
Then I think it might be too much trouble going back and forth. We should just stay onsite Monday-Thursday staying offsite on the first and last days. And then I'm over budget...
I have an annual pass already and would get a decent rate onsite. I'm already selling all of my unnecessary items on eBay to get as much spending money as possible. I guess what I'm saying is, like everyone, I want to get as much value out of this vacation as possible. Am I crazy for attempting the alternating onsite/offsite thing? Should I just stay offsite and shut up about it?
