Hi Everyone:
Does anyone have a suggestion as an alternate to potato chips. Does anyone know the WW points for those bags vegtable sticks that they claim have half the fat of chips and do they taste good? My biggest craving right now is crunchy, like chips or crackers. Any suggestions would be great. I do do carrots, etc., but sometimes I crave the chip crunch. Thanks!

I believe it is something like 3 points a serving!!!! I have not tried them but if I can have WOW chips for 1 points and baked chips for 2 I some how don't want the veggie chips for 3! Pretzels are always good!!

I like to have "Quakes" by Quaker as a chip alternative.

They are like mini rice cakes, except fluffier, crispier and very tasty. (I don't like rice cakes. Reminds me of eating Styrofoam. But these are good!)

They come in flavors like Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream and Onion, and even Chocolate and Caramel.

They're about the size of... let's see... maybe the bottom of a soft drink can. For most flavors, you get 10 of them for 2 points. That makes a nice, big pile of them. 5 of them for 1 point might be enough to satisfy your chip urge.

I LOVE the sour cream and onion flavor. I take little Ziploc snack sized bags and put my individual portion size in each bag, so I can just grab one and go.

Those are great suggestions! Thank you. Jimmy 102 - how many WOW chips can you have for 1 point? Kathy TX, I will also definitely pick up the Quakes.

Whatever the serving size is!! About 15 chips Ithink or 28grams!! I weigh mine and it is not a bade serving. FF pringles are 1 points for 15!!

My choice had been fat reduced pringles (3 pts) but worth it to me. I never really liked them too much, but thought I could count those out the easiest. (I have trouble with the total fat free/stomach wise).

But my new favorite is Soy crisps by Genisoy. I like the b-b-q flavor. 25 crisps for 110 calories and 2 gr fiber (2pts). I think they are pretty good and really do satisfy my longing...........for a chip! (Not really a chip, but crunchy, I am thinking they may be like Quakes) Found them in my local grocery health food area. My dr. just recommended that I try to eat more soy so this is a good way for me! (www.genisoy.com) haven't been to the website but see it on the bag as I was getting info :D

You are probably not going to like my answer to much, I am a confessed obsessed potato chip fan! tommorow will be 4 weeks since I stopped eating them. I didn't give them up forever, I just had to stop so I could find my way to different choices. What I have found is that #1 I can survive without them! #2 there are different ways to "get around" that craving.....
I don't have all the points in front of me, but most are in the book

Popcorn
1 serving of dorritos 3pts
reduced fat wheat thins
veggies and dip
cauliflower salad (I eat that when I eat sandwhiches for a meal)

Recipee:
Cauliflower sliced
frozen peas
bacon bits
dill
low fat mayo.

I don't measure any of this It is just mixed up, the mayo is to give it flavor and moisture to keep it all together.

People have mentioned some of my favs:

GenSoy Soy crisps - I too like the BBq, and Salt & Vinegar!
WOW chips - most are 1 point per serving, the Tostitos and Doritos are 2 I believe
Baked Frito chips - the Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles are my FAVORITES! 2 points per serving!
FF Pringles - 1 point per serving
FF saltines - 1 point per 5 crackers (and I prefer the ff to the regular)
Skinny Natural corn chips are 2 or 3 points for 2 cups, depending on flavor, and those are good!

If I think of more, I'll post them!

This is off topic I know, but SnackyStacky, I just noticed you signature and I wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss! 146 pounds is awesome!

I'll also second the crunch of the Quakes. Like KathyTX, I don't like regular rice cakes, but Quakes are good! :D

Frito is testing a Low Carb Line of Doritos and Tostitos

What I eat in place of regular chips and crackers are:

Chips
Glenny's Soy Chips- Lightly salted ( I LOVE these!) 2 points (bag)
Skinny Chips - Regular flavor (1 point per cup)
I make my own tortillas chips from corn tortillas (1pt-1 corn tortilla)
Organic thin stick pretzels made from Oat Bran (18 for 2 points)

Crackers-
Devonsheer Melba Toast Rounds (1 point -5 pieces)
TLC Crakcers -Plain (1 point for 15)

I used to love the Quakes, but I stop eating them because they had hydrogenated oils and a huge list of ingredients. I try to only by all natural (sometimes organic) snacks, and at the least I try to find snacks with no hydrogenated oils. I figure that it's the worst type of fat for us to eat, so I make a concious effort to keep it under control.

My kids also eat the above, but for the family I will also buy the Frito Lay all natural chips. There are some great ones out there that taste great. They can still be fattening though.

I also saw a recipe for spicy roasted cauliflower (in place of eating popcorn) that looked interesting.

Be careful with the non-fat products like FF Pringles or WOW chips. They contain olestra. You might not have any adverse reactions to it in terms of stomach or down below, but there have been some studies done showing that Olestra strips Cartenoids from the body...

I should add that I am doing WW also :) I usually eat baked doritoes or baked layes instead of the Fat Free ones. I also eat Skinny chips occassionally or Soy Crisps.

I also pre-portion my bag of chips into 1 oz portions and put them into snack bags so I don't binge on them. :)

Have you tried these? They have them at Costco & Trader Joes, maybe your local supermarket. They come in a dark blue bag.

Lower fat, very crispy, and salty. Probably not a good choice if you really need to watch salt.

Another thing that I do is raw veggies with dip. This is kinda a trade-off. I make my own Hidden Valley ranch. I buy the dressing, not the dip mix. After it sits for a few hours, it's think and yummy!!!!
