Alternate Fireworks Viewing Areas

The Remember fireworks are scheduled for one of the nights of our DL visit, and I was wondering if there was another area of the Park besides in front of the castle that was good for viewing the fireworks, and not so crowded.

I realize that the show is set up with the castle as a specific focal point, but since we have seen the show from that point of view on a previous visit, we wouldn't mind missing some of the projections and other effects. I am hoping to get some neat fireworks pictures, but this is going to be a short visit, and I don't want to spend hours camping out for a good spot.

Thanks!

Inside the park - the ramp down from Innoventions.

Outside the park - Top floor of the parking structure.

definitely the balcony on the top floor of Innoventions.:thumbsup2
Parking Garage, yep, I agree that is a great view.:thumbsup2

Driving North past the park on the freeway is a great view.:woohoo:
I heard the pool at PP Hotel has a great view of the fireworks.
Esplanade has a good view.
If there is no Fantasmic then the top deck of the Mark Twain, that was the most awesome and patriotic experience for me and it was just after 9/11.
From the bobsleds while riding or from Spalsh Mountain so that you crest the last drop and see everything.
Tomorrowland gives you a side view.

My personal favorite is Main Street. You just walk up MS and find a good spot, we usually aim around the front hub (not the castle hub) and from there you can see almost all of the castle effects, get a great view of the MS effects, see the fireworks, see tinkerbelle and the best part we have always found a spot with no waiting.

Can you see Tinkerbell's flight from Innovations?

We're always looking for a better, less crowded place to watch the fireworks...we have two sons with cerebral palsy in wheelchairs, and just standing on Main Street doesn't work for us (because people stand in front of them, and they can't see)...

So we end up camping out for 3 hours, if we want to see the fireworks.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I do not think so because the mountain is in the way but the fireworks are lovely. I wish I could tell you a wheelchair friendly place.

probably some places to check it out, is over by Rivers of America. You can really see the fireworks with less visual intrusions, you can get great pictures from here. No one is really in this area right now during the fireworks since Fantasmic isn't playing.

This past Saturday, just for watching we had an interesting view from the Plaza Garden Stage, you miss some things. But the view of the fireworks is great. Also if you get there around 8 or so, you can grab a chair and your entertained with the dancers and band playing on Saturdays as well.

Maybe someone else will be able to help you with this, but if I am not mistaken, there are areas for wheelchairs and scooters. I do not know how fast the fill up or where they are exactly. Hopefully someone who has used them can chime in.

I thought so too. I see that wheelchair and ECV spots are available for parades I would think they would for fireworks as well. There is a number listed you could call and ask (714) 781-4565 It would be nice for you and your sons to find a spot without waiting 3 hours that is for sure!

OT- How you feeling these days?

Minus the cold I have, with some yucky coughing I am doing pretty good. I can't wait for this stupid thing to pass as I so want to go to DLR!!!

I personally enjoy the fireworks from Main Street, but there are many who love watching the fireworks from in front of it's a small world. There are projections on the outside of the attraction, along with the fireworks and the music. Some love watching from there.

Side note re: EVCs and wheelchairs: There is not a special area for the fireworks because the fireworks are up in the sky (not being funny here) so the logic is that even if there are people in front of you, the view is not blocked because you are lookng up high.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, there is NOT a viewing area for wheelchairs for the fireworks. There ARE ones for the parades, but not for the fireworks.

I understand why Disney would think that looking "up" would mean that they don't need special viewing areas. However, the real world means that people standing directly in front of my sons' wheelchairs (especially with how many people are at DL watching the fireworks), mean that they can't see very much at all.

What we usually do is camp out 2-3 hours ahead of time, with their chairs up against a railing (while making sure no trees block our view), so that no one can stand in front. Some years it works better than others.

Thanks, though, for the ideas!

We watched them from Frontier Land on Sunday actually. My brother in a wheel chair couldn't see them from main street, with all the people standing in front of him. We just had to find an area that didn't have trees blocking, it was rather nice, and you could still see the effects on Main Street too.

I liked the area right between the Teacups and Alice. Interesting view!

I saw some cool views while in the BTMRR queue. The fireworks were framed by the mountain for a cool look.

I too like seeing them from by the River. Last time we watched F! over the holidays we stayed in the same location and had a wonderful view of the fireworks as well as being very near one of the snow locations. I think that will be my personal choice from now on.

Of course, you won't see the castle or TINK, but the fireworks view is great. Sometimes the crowds on MS can be too much.

The balcony of the train station. And it never crowds up there until about 15-20 minutes before.

It's great. You can still see some the castle effects, plus all the effects up and down Main Street that you can't see otherwise.

Also, the Fantasmic! viewing area provides a nice alternative look at the Fireworks, and when Fanstasmic! is not running, they broadcast the Firework music over the speakers by the Rivers of America.

In addition, also when Fantasmic! is not running, the Mark Twain provides great views. They shut-off the boat's light and park it in the river while the show is going on.
