Altering resort reservations with free dining

So we are currently booked at POR (Royal room) at the end of Oct/beg Nov for 14 nights under the free dining promotion. We are now discussing doing a 4-night Disney Cruise before we go to WDW. If we did this, we would need to shorten our WDW stay due to $ and when the cruise is. So instead of checking in on the 19th we don't want to check in until the 25th. Can we do this without losing our room and free dining? (We still qualify under number of days and park tickets.) I looked online and they don't have the dates available for the room we want if we were to cancel and rebook. Thanks!

I don't THINK you'll have a problem, as long as you don't cancel your existing reservation. What you want to do is change your dates, not cancel and make a new reservation. As long as the FD dates are still valid for your new arrival date then you're OK. When you call, simply stress to the CM that you just need to move your arrival date back, reducing your overall length of stay. There may be a change fee for this if you are within your 45 days before arrival. Good luck.

We changed the arrival and departure dates of our upcoming free dining stay AFTER the promotion expired and it wasn't a problem. As long as your arrival day is still within the promo dates, you should be golden. Just note, if it makes the reservation less expensive, you need to make changes before the 45 day mark to avoid any fees.

If I'm understanding your post, you are currently booked to check in on 10/19 for 14 nights, but want to take away the first 6 nights and arrive on 10/25. If so, it's no problem to take nights off as long as they're already included in your current reservation and the new arrival date is included in the free dining promo. But as the pp said, tell the CM that you just want to MODIFY your reservation and not cancel; otherwise, if it's cancelled, you will lose free dining and might not get it back if there's no longer availability for your dates.
