One more box came today . We are now down to having to mail it Priority on Saturday to have it get to me by Tuesday unless you send it next-day Express on Monday. If you know you will be not be completing this swap, please let the other swappers know that so they can adjust their Wish List.

I just got home from a work related trip, that I had no warning I was even going on. I will try to get to the post office today, but I really doubt Im going to go because I am simply just exhausted. If I don't then I guess I will have alot of christmas gifts. I understand being strict about a deadline but sheesh.

I'm sorry to hear that life has been crazy for you. Those unexpected surprises are always the worst, even if they aren't as much work. Just being thrown off a schedule is hard.

What about trying one of the faster shipping methods? One of the 2 day express mailings? More expensive, but it's generally not too bad, especially since the return postage doesn't have to be the same way.

I agree...the next-day shipping method only hurts one way. I am holding everyone to the 10/31 deadline because I feel there has been plenty of time for this swap to be completed as it has been posted for a long time.

Sharon, just a heads up - I wanted to mail yesterday (Sat) to get them priority, but we had a massive wind (up to 60mph) and rain storm - And i didn't get there. Which i realize was my choice, so i want you to rest assured - i will be mailing out express mail on monday (so you would get it next day - oct. 31)
Just one question, i heard somewhere that someone has to be present to sign for express mail - is this true? And what if it is - will someone be there to sign?

Regarding the "someone needing to be here": There is generally not somebody here when the mailman comes. Maybe we will be lucky and he/she will come at a time DD is home from school.

Ok, so I am the slacker here I guess. I am mailing today and I am guessing the package will get there between now and Thursday. haven says she is swapping items out on Wednesday; do I just bow out of the swap? I feel terrible as my items have been done for weeks but my world exploded on 10/20 and we haven't slowed down yet. From a hostile takeover at work (one of our sanctioned websites, not US per se) to my husbands crazy sister-in-law threatening to "beat my @$$" for a minor offense to my 7 year old daughter being very very ill for the past 5 days (last night and today seems to be the worst, tho), 10/29 being my birthday and for the piec de resistance, my other sister-in-law who is also my best friend (and very very pregnant) being in a horrible head on collision last night (yep, on my bday no less!) with a drunken jerk; October has just been crazy. Is anyone willing to wait for my package to arrive or do we just not care about 3 Buzz cans? Either way I am fine, I just would hate to be known as a flaker. :-(

If Sharon doesn't mind, she can hold my cans. I don't mind three Buzz and she can give you one of each of from my groups. I have boys and nephews that I can use the cans for. I have PMed you the address. Overnighting three cans shouldn't cost you too much. I had 9 in a box and it was $8 to ship them priority. I wrapped each can in tissue paper and the extra made good stuffing to keep them from moving.

Well, I went to USPS.com and looked at sending my cans Express mail and the total for that was $22.20. I just cannot justify that right now for 3 cans. I am sooooo incredibly sorry that I turned out to be the flaker for this swap, I feel 100% lousy now.

Ok,. wanted to chime in here.. I mailed out my 9 cans express mail- and let me tell ya, it cost an arm and a leg. I will tell you it was quite more than what potterfreak was charged. HOWEVER, I know I waited til the last minute, and that is MY fault.. and ONLY mine. So, it was not fair to make the others wait..
That being said, i know it is Sharon's decision to hold to her deadline, as she has completely said she is.. and i respect that, that is HER decision. HER rules,and we should respect them for being in HER swap. We each may have different ways to do things, ( As my pirate swap, i am giving a 1 week grace period.. only.) Sharon chose to stick to her deadline, and we can't fault her for that.
I want to say that i am 90% sure that Potterfreak - you could have express mailed them for less than what UPS quoted you, like i said, i paid more.. but i also mailed out 9 cans.
And I have to admit, I too - thought about "Should i or shouldn't i spend the money to overnight them.. "
But, in the end, it is not everyone elses fault that sent theirs in on time, so why penalize them and not send in mine?? It is a lesson i learned, when a hostess gives a strict deadline, then i need to mail out in plenty of time. Or it will cost me.
Now, also, Please keep in mind that Sharon has repeatedly stated this strict enforcement of the deadline, And it would definately NOT be fair for us who paid crazy money to overnight them and have her extend it a day or two, when in that case i could have priority mailed them for under $8. Instead i paid 4x's that to make sure they are in her hands.

That being said - Sharon, you should have mine delivered they said by 12 noon tomorrow. I waived the signature thing.. so no one has to sign for it. Hope you like them. And thanks for hosting.

I went to mail my many cans this morning and they couldn't guarantee a two day delivery and I like Potter couldn't justify nor could I afford over nighting them. I agree as well it was my fault for not getting them mailed sooner. I had the intention of mailing them last week but got sent away for work. Honestly, while I was away I was so busy I didn't even give them a second thought.

So I, as well am sitting at the flaker table. I really wanted to participate in this swap, I am proud of my cans.

LOL Kat! Haven gave me the go ahead to Priority them today and I did. I'm not saying I deserve special treatment cos I totally don't think I do. It's completely my fault for not paying attention. I get emails from DISboards whenever there is a post to one of my watched topics and for the past 3 weeks or so, for every post someone makes on a topic, I get THREE emails regarding that one post. So I have been TRYING to stay on top of things, but life is what happens while you're busy making other plans, right? I totally understand if no one wants to swap cans with me, I am fully aware how this is my fault. And USPS.com said to Express Mail them it was $22.20. If they had fit in an envelope, it would have been $14, which is SLIGHTLY more justified. We all make mistakes; mine just happened to affect other people as well. I am sorry, but I have to devote the time to my real life even if it affects people online. I DID finish these on time I just forgot to mail them for 2 weeks. Whoever ends up getting my cans, don't forget to look on the bottom-I included a little surprise! LMAO

I took Thursday off from work and will be sure to swap them out as planned. The boxes are taking up my family room and I need to use the room for an event here on Monday night and will be away for the week-end. I think this swap took all the "hostessing" out of me! No more hostessing on this board for me.
It doesn't seem fair to me to make the folks who paid extra to get their stuff to me on time see that the deadline is extended for "late" folks and the folks who didn't get their stuff on time are upset because the deadline wasn't extended. I thought I was pretty clear all along but that didn't seem to work either.

The cans that have come so far are wonderful and I am sure you will all enjoy them. I think I will just be a swap PARTICIPANT from now on!
