Already wait listed next Food & Wine, Boardwalk

We are owners at Boardwalk, and were unable to get a standard view studio at 7am central time today and also yesterday! I know they are hard to snag but have always managed to get previously. We are trying to coordinate with family who are going in a week earlier and already have their room.

Does anyone know of a reason why this particular week would be harder to book? I know some weeks are more popular than others and just trying to make a decision going forward. We need to save some points as our granddaughter will be traveling to WDW with her orchestra class 6 months later and can't miss that! Thx

What dates, is that 11 months out or less than? Are you trying to book standard view? October is pretty popular with BWV owners, everyone seems to want to stay there for food and wine and many want the standard view rooms. It is possible some members are walking reservations so days might open up and your wait list will come through.

10/22/17 and 10/23/17? Most likely due to stays that begin on those dates will not only be during F&W, but also the final MNSSHPs. There could be some people who are also walking reservations so that their stay covers not only MNSSHP, but also the first MVMCP and one of the last weeks of F&W.

I only see this getting more difficult as people purchase BWV on the resale market solely for the purpose of getting one of those "cheap" studios close to Epcot for F&W. Add renters (which is getting more and more popular) who also want those same "cheap" studios and you have a lot of competition for those units during your dates.

I had the same experience for an earlier Oct. date. People must have been walking because after a few days my week opened up for a std view BWV studio. Maybe the same thing will happen to your dates. Hope so.

Keep checking every day for the next week or so. Your dates might open. I think people are walking for the first few nights in November. ( for Jersey Week ).

Grab any nights you need and adjust the waitlist as needed. When you've pieced it together, MS can combine it all into one reservation for you. More work for you, but sounds like it will be worth it.

Walkers for Jersey Week is most like explanation meaning those days should open up as the walkers walk past it. My guess 3-7 days from now.

Nov 5-12 is starting to be a very popular week. F&W plus Christmas theming and there's really only about a week and a half window for both.

Throw in Jersey Week and marathon and Veterans Day long weekend for good measure, and you have a popular week that many are starting to walk to get.

A couple weeks later we decided to come in a few days earlier, so now I had to try to book at 10 1/2 months for those few days. No problem. Now that studios sleep 5, and 1 BRs sleep 4, I wonder if studios are becoming even more popular, and 1 BRs even less popular.

In general, studios have always booked up faster than the 1 bedrooms.

For the BWV, the big challenge is the standard view studios and also the Boardwalk View studios. Right now for October 2017, there are only a few scattered nights available for the standard and Boardwalk view studios But the whole month of October is still open for the Pool/Garden View studios. The standard views are a very good bargain, especially for an EPCOT /DHS centered trip. It's no wonder they go quick!

And FWIW, except for the first two Saturday nights, all of October 2017 is still open for BCV studios. Not surprised at all that you had no issue getting a 1 bedroom.

We are also owners at BWV and we needed a 2br std view for a week and I forgot to look the first day in the morning. The Saturday night we wanted to check in was already taken so I was on the computer ready to do just 6 nights instead right at 0800. I grabbed the 6 nights but when I went to complete the reservation (after borrowing some points and adding DH) I got an error!!! No reservation! Went back to try and get it for a little bit and it was not available. After a while DH convinced me to do a Boardwalk view and I waitlisted the std view. A couple days later my waitlist came thru. I will just stick with the 6 nights. We were going to cancel a 6th night in May and do 7 nights in October but now I will just leave it as 6 &6.
I highly recommend the waitlist!

We own at BWV and planning to book for 11/10-11/17 next month. We were just down 11/5-11/12 and it was very busy. Hoping the week later won't be quite as busy. I agree, I think anytime in October is going to be hard to get with the standard studio. We also have a week in March that I tried to get right at 7 months and couldn't get standard studio but did get pool/garden view. I was able to get standard view for our recent trip but that one was in a one bedroom.

Thanks Carol, I just looked at the calendar - actually I was off by a day. Planning 11/11-11/18. We have been this week before and although I know it will be busy on the first weekend, I am still hopeful that the weekdays after will be much quieter than the week we just spent at WDW. We could go the first or second week December instead but really prefer the weather in November. Also, we own BWV and AKV. Not enough points for a full week in a 2 bed at BWV, so will book 3 nights there and 4 at AKV - then try to change when we get to 7 month window.

Glad you got a room booked and hopefully the WL will come through. I had 5 nights booked standard view for our trip and the last 2 were wait listed and they came though for us a month before our trip.

I bet your waitlist will come thru. We had the same problem booking last year for the first week of October, 2016. We were only able to book 6 of the 8 nights we wanted at 8:00 am when the 11 month window opened. Wait listed the other nights and they came thru a few months later.

Also had trouble this year for the last week of September, 2017. Got 5 of the 7 nights in a standard view studio at the 11 month mark. The waitlist for one more might came thru this week. Bet the other night will also come thru!

Today, Oct. 25th, I tried to book BWV std view studio Oct. 25-Nov 1. What a surprise to see Oct 26 is already gone. Guess I'll try again on Sun, the 27th, and hope for the best.

Thus, what you are seeing this year is not new. disfanforlife mentioned above wanting Nov 11-18, 2017. If you will be seeking a standard or boardwalk view studio or 2BR, you should seriously consider walking the reservation from the first date you can find open at 11 months out because your arrival date is the Saturday of the last weekend of Food & Wine, one of the highest DVC demand weekends of the year, and the Friday is the official holiday since Veteran's Day is Saturday, and for 2016, the Friday and Saturday of that weekend disappeared exactly at 8 a.m., 11 months out from the Friday.
