I booked my vacation through disney directly, and was sent a package with what I thought were ME luggage tags. I just recently changed my outboard flight provider, so I called ME to change the reservation, only to learn I had NO reservation. they had never entered us in the system. and we should have received bright yellow luggage tags. so now I have to bring my baggage claim tickets to the welcome center, and pray that they get my bags and I don't spend 5 nites washing my undies out in the sink!!

I don't think you will have any problems. If you have the baggage claim tickets they won't have any problems finding your luggage.

When are you leaving for WDW? Do they not have enough time to send out yellow tags to you?

To be honest, you can search these boards and see that MANY PEOPLE who also didn't have the yellow tags had a GREAT experience with DME! We booked too closet to our vacation so we never got them, but the minute we got to the DME Counter they said that it was no problem whatsoever! Our luggage arrived just like everyone else and there were no problems.

Don't let it put a damper on your vacation, relax, and see that it will work out and the trip will be great!

Try as they may, the limo services aren't perfect either!!

I too was worried about not having the yellow tags and having to give DME employees my baggage claims. I just booked air travel today for a Sept 2nd flight, and even though it is exactly 10 days away, the DME CM said that I wouldn't get my tags in time because it takes "10 days for the printing company they use to print up the tags" (what's up with that, anyway :confused3 ). I too was worried about giving them my baggage claim tags , fearing that there would be a screw up, but feel alot better after reading these replys :teeth: . Does it add a longer time on, in receiving your luggage at the resort,if they have to get your bags at the carrosel, as oppossed to the ones that have the yellow tags?

I wouldn't worry about them picking up your baggage by you providing them the baggage claim numbers and description of your bags.

We were one of the first flights into MCO after its reopening following one of the hurricanes last September. The Disney Cruise Line people met us there and we provided them that exact information for our bags. They took us to our resort and our bags arrived that afternoon.

I figure if they could manage that following the chaos of a hurricane, and airport reopening, they will have no problem under normal circumstances.

There won't be any difference in delivery time. When you give the DME desk your info when you check in, they will have someone pull the bags for you, and you will be on your way, so you personally won't be delayed, either. The only delays I'm aware of are self-imposed ones, by people who choose not to DME-tag their bags, and instead pick up their own luggage at baggage claim and bring it on the bus (in the cargo hold) with them. These people delay themselves by having to wait at baggage claim.

I used DME on May 8, the 4th day of operation, when MANY people didn't get their tags. We unexpectedly got ours on May 7, so we were prepared to do without. My wife bought the loudest, most obnoxious ribbon she could find at a fabric store (bright orange with bright yellow polka dots) and we tied some ribbon to each of our checked bags, and were prepared to bring some pieces of that ribbon to the DME counter with us, to give to them in hopes it would make identifying our bags easier.

Good luck and enjoy your WDW vacation!

CleveRocks, thanks a bunch :) . That's a great idea about attaching a bright piece of ribbon, etc, for identification purposes.I'll do that :earsgirl: , Karen

When I hadn't gotten my yellow tags in mid-June, I went so far as to get some satin blanket binding that was blue with Pooh all over it. Then I sewed some lime green (DIS green) grosgrain ribbon onto the edge of that, making it about 3 inches wide. Tied it onto all my checked luggage. Then I took a picture of each piece of luggage. Wouldn't you know it? The day after I did that the darn tags appeared..4 days before we left!!! If you have a picture they will know exactly what they are looking for and the exact number of pieces.

I had a question about ME..is the car they pick you up in like a shuttle bus? If so do they have set times for pickup (like every half-hour) or do they sit around for 10 minutes to pack the bus to capacity? Thanks for the help!

Disney's Magical Express is a bus, not a car. It is a large bus like you see on the highways. From the pictures I have seen it looks really nice inside. I imagine that they schedule to match the incoming/outgoing flights and the various resorts that people are going to and coming back from. I doubt that they run anything like the WDW resort buses. The WDW transportation is fluid to allow for changes in the crowd patterns. I would guess that the Magical Express is more in line with the airline schedules.

I've used DME twice now...June and August. THe bus is brand new and quite comfy. We never waited more than 15 minutes for the bus to leave. In June we were one of the first on the bus and it filled rapidly..left in about 8 minutes. In August it was a bit slower and we waited about 15 minutes. It was always about one hour from getting to the DME to our resort checkin.

On May 14, the day I left CBR, DME buses were scheduled to come every 30 minutes, at least during the afternoon. I was scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. bus (6:45 p.m. flight). One came in around 3:45 p.m. and when I asked I was told it was a late 3:30 p.m. bus and not the early 4:00 p.m. bus. I was told I could get on that one if I wanted but I chose to hang around the extra 15 minutes, and the 4:00 p.m. bus came at exactly 4:00 p.m.
