Already have tickets, need room. No way to get "free" dining? :(

>>>

I wish they hadn't changed to needing 2 tickets, then it might work for me. We have DVC so our PAPs are discounted but my DH has to buy them, I am only added to the account not the actual account holder. I'd be afraid of getting to the park and not being able to upgrade her ticket and get the DVC discount. It wouldn't be a problem to get 1 ticket for the friend and upgrade her. As many ways as I have looked at working it, I think hoping for a good AP rate on the room, getting tickets from UT, and using the TIW card will be our best bet :)

Just to clarify and maybe this is what you meant, but it is not two tickets you have to buy but a 2 day ticket minimum for everyone in your party for free dining.

I'm still a little confused about how the FD plan works. I am assuming that the 2 day park ticket minimum means you get 2 days of food. You can't buy a 2 day ticket from disney, get a room for a week, and use tickets you already have for the remaining days of the week and get food the entire week, can you?

You get as many days of "free" food as the number of nights booked. The 2-day ticket is just the minimum number of days that have to be purchased with the package.

"Free Dining" or any dining is given for each night of your stay. It has nothing to do with park tickets. You can do as many or few park days as you want (as long as you do at least the minimum number). You still get dining credits for each night of your stay. You have to get your room/ticket/dining plan as a package deal under the promotion. Can't get each "piece" separatly. Hope that makes sense! :goodvibes

Thanks! Last question. Can any discounts at all apply to the "package". For example, can you get a AAA discount? Or is the free dining basically the discount and there can be no deviation from the price. Everybody on the planet will pay same price for a 5 day trip with free dining?

Free dining is considered a discount so you would not be able to double up on discounts. You must pay rack rate for the room and full price on the tickets to qualify for the dining plan to be free.

I was thinking of doing this- tell me if I have this right:

DH and I have AP's. If a Free Dining pkg is offered I know we need to buy (at least) 2-day passes for each of us to get that FD package. But I was thinking they can take the "tickets" off our Key to the worlds cards, and give them to us for use later. We put them away, and use them for a trip later, when we do not have AP's. If this is possible, can those tickets be used later for different people (DD and myself instead of DH)-if they were never used?

Yes to all of your questions. However, we've never even bothered to remove them from the room key, just hang on to that the same as any other ticket and use them when you're ready towards your next ticket, AP or not. I have given one away as a gift before too, which is ok since it was never used. They only become non-transferrable after the first use.

I guess I was still confused :) taking in to account 2 day tickets for all of us makes FD really not work for us! Thank you for the help :thumbsup2

I'll be hoping for a good AP rate!
