My DH and 2 DGDs and I were at the Poly August 17-28 this year. It was nice, but not really to our liking. We missed the grand lobby like the WL and AKL have and felt a little isolated in the longhouse because it was too hot to walk around much except go to the pool.
We stayed at GVC in Hawaii. The lounge was very nice, and housekeeping did a very good job, but I was surprised that they didn't make up the daybed each day, just put the blankets back on. We also didn't like the bathroom set up. Thought it was a little small especially the sink area. We really filled up the counter with 3 females. Mousekeeping did make a really cute holder for toothbrushes out of a washcloth and decorated it with a lei.
The view from our room was the Samoa next door and the shed in front of the Quiet pool. Not real exciting. The location at Hawaii is very nice for getting to the GCH and the pools. Long trot (especially in the heat) to go to the laundry building.
The ice machines on both the 1st and 3rd floors were broken for about 4 days.
It was very busy when we were there, both at the Poly and the parks, so I am sure that added to our feeling of discontent during our stay. Had to maneuver around lots of people on the walkways and the pools were crowded. Couldn't always find a table or seat in the lounge, especially in the morning.
We did think all of the longhouses were a little gloomy (walked through a lot of them to avoid going outside in the heat). We loved O'Hana's but we didn't have a very good lunch at Kona's although their breakfast was good. Coffee was excellent at the restaurants and the lounge.
Heading to the GF in a couple of months for an adult trip with a very different theme. So far, we like the WL best.
