We've booked a MKV room for our trip in April. Do these rooms have balconies? Are the views really that good? This is our first trip so I am really trying to learn as I go.
TIA>

Not exactly a poly question..... but kind of....

If we watch Spectro from the Train Station and then hop the monorail can we make it back to Hawaii in time to see wishes at 10:00? Has anyone ever tried that?

We left during the parade once to make it back to GF once... but we didn't stay until the very end... which I think allotted us more time.

Could we take the boat and see wishes from there?

I would really like to make it back to the hotel....

You could be cutting it close riding the monorail if you wait for spectromagic to be completly over, depending on crowd levels, there is a mad rush after the parade and another after wishes.
As far as the boat if the boat is there you will be dropped off right at the beach. If it Is there as you are leaving, you will make it. But also remember that the EWP is right in front of the poly when wishes starts hindering you from docking at poly!

With a magic kingdom view, to ensure you have a balcony request 1st or third floor only! Some longhouses only have balconies on 1st and 3rd floors.

YES the views form MK rooms are absolutley FABULOUS!!

I am in Philly as well! Welcome Philly Family! You will be hooked on Poly the first night you stay!

Club Level GV: When we arrived we were told our room assignment which I will get to later. This room is known on here as a room with a "bad" view and I had a feeling I'd get it. I was only made more nervous by the fact that the bell services CM was trying to convince us to ask for an upgrade to MK view on our way over to the building on the cart. But said "don't tell them I told you to so" yeah, whatever dude. I have no intention of paying for an upgrade so we'll just see what we are dealing with.

We walked into our room (3520) and I was puzzled by why anyone would complain about this room! :confused3 The view was of a tree, but IMO it took you away from it all and created a relaxing atmosphere. We could sit on the deck chat and feel taken away to the tropics. I suppose if you wanted to be in the middle of it all 24/7 then it would be a problem, but then again shouldn't you just book the view you want in the first place?

WE. LOVED. CL. Loved it, loved the poly, being so close to the monorails it was awesome. Loved the beer, loved the arranging of the kids stuffed animals and the towel animals, turndown, the snacks and watching Wishes from the lounge every night. Being at the poly and in CL contributed to us having one of our most fun vacations at Disney ever (and we've been lots). The pool was great and the pina colavas very very yummy. :lovestruc

I am not saying we will do CL everytime we go but we will certainly do a deluxe resort with a good view and the dining plan. I am glad we did not do the dining plan this time as it would've been *way too much* food with the offerings at the lounge too. Besides, we don't normally eat the way it is designed and there was plenty of *ahem* alcohol on the meal bills that wouldn't have been included with the DDP. Going *bare* for food ended up saving us around $300 in the end, alcoholic beverages and appetizers included. I was impressed at the healthy options that have crept into the parks for snacks.

The crowds were awesome this time of year and we walked on everything pretty much. My 7 year old did EE 5X (with me of course LOL) and one night we just kept getting off/on BTMRR. My 10yr old and DH said that The Sum of All Thrills was neat (I did not do-claustrophobic a bit)

I was very unimpressed with several transportation CMs. Watched a monorail driver chew out a monorail attendant at the MK one afternoon, almost went off the road in a bus coming from the AK so decided to drive next time only to be caught in the middle of a conversation between two CMs at the gates while holding up my parking pass, watching the CM nod, but apparently not to us and then get 'scolded' for attempting to move along. :sad2:

We began to get the Disney overload on day 4, and are glad to be back. We are former DVC members and now plan trips every 3ish years now. We will be back before the 7 year old turns 10, just not this year, or next. Hopefully back at the Poly... :)

I am sooooo envious of those who are there or getting ready to go! I so want to be back at the Poly! I have been home since Sunday and I have the serious post trip blues :sad1:

Me too! We got home on Monday. It was WAY hard for my kids to go back to school yesterday. When my dd says 'I wish I was still at Disney World', I have to stop myself from agreeing, lol. We were SO lucky with the weather last week.

Simba's Girl: We have GV Cl booked for out trip and we aren't going to request any particular room/floor etc. I will have to write the room number down that you had. Be interesting to see what we end up with. I really want a LV but I am thinking of adding another night, so I would rather stay an extra night than have a LV.

Just back from our first time at the Poly, my only complaint..........could they dust a little, lol? Maybe b/c I'm tall it was easy for me to see but the tops of the picture frames had a pretty thick layer of dust on them, as well as the Tiki mirrors in the bathroom. I felt like the whole room just needed a good deep cleaning. I was also surprised to see mold on the shower curtain. But, that said, we were mostly happy with the room. It was so dark and quiet at night, loved that! I was disapointed at first to be in Rapa Nui but it was actually really nice to have a large room and balcony and to be so close to the TTC.

I have to say that I saw lots of pictures of the grounds/GCH before we went, but pictures don't do the grounds justice. The theming was amazing.

I was disapointed that the monorail was out of service 3x while we were there. We had to take the bus to Epcot twice (the second time was our last day, we had to wait almost 30 minutes for them to tell us that there was not going to be a monorail and than what seemed liked forever for the busses. It got us to Epcot at 10:20 instead of 9.

Despite the above, we had a great time and would stay there again :thumbsup2

Steve Tiki's site is reporting that Chef Dick is retiring in July! :sad2:

This will be a sad loss for the Poly! I wish him the best in his retirement:hug:

Woo hoo! We decided to go with lagoon view club level for our trip in July!! :woohoo::yay::banana::dance3::cheer2::woohoo::yay::banana: We started out thinking we'd book a garden view room, then decided on garden view club level, and finally today decided to go with LVCL! :cool2::cool2::cool2:

I wondered when it would be put out there. . .his birthday and our daughter's are back to back. He said he was retiring around their birthdays. It is a sad day for the Polynesian. Dick is definitely a major draw for the concierge level. He will be missed. . .

Chef Dick will be sorely missed!! My kids have fond memories of his warm smile and his sneaking a plate of cookies to them! I will have to get more pics of him and his food art! I wonder if they will ever get another guy like him! Thankfully we are going in the beginning of June! We will try to convince him to stay!

Hello again Tess! :)

Looks like we are skipping our August trip and heading back to the Poly in December

It is a long story but I have a grade school reunion and high school reunion and two weddings between June and September and I could not get my head together to plan and execute the August trip so I finally decided we would just take one fabulous trip in December instead of the two shorter trips as we originally planned! We loved our trip in December 2008 so I can't wait to go back! Now I have planning motivation again!

I know the early December crowds seem to be getting bigger and I think we will be there during Pop Warner but we were at Disney the same time in 2008 and it was not too bad! Certainly not summer crowd levels! I tried to convince DH to actually go for Christmas but when we checked the rates coupled with the crowds he said forget it! :rolleyes1

Now I just have to finalize the actual dates and hopefully tweak them to get there early enough so I can meet Maiapapaya in person! ;)

Yay! Very excited to read your post (bummer that you're cancelling the summer trip though ...) Hoping you can make the dates work!

We will be there during Pop Warner week too! Maybe you will get a chance to tell my dh how much I really need a cavalier. I have always wanted one but dh keeps saying too expensive.

There may be some rooms with trees that would obstruct the view of EWP, but in 4 years of staying in Tahiti 3rd floor (and 1 year on the 1st floor when I broke my foot), we have never missed it. We stayed in Tuvalu some years ago, and yes, the view of EWP is perfect - but IMO the MK view is not as good. To me, there is just nothing better than the view across 7 seas towards the MK with the ferry boats coming and going and the Contemporary across the way...MAN I'm ready to go. 31 Days!!!

Thanks, Dawgdad! I love these pics, especially the one above at night! Only 18 more days (even though my ticker says 17{not sure why because I added the right date!}) til I find out where MY MK view will be! :thumbsup2 You're not far behind me!

the nighttime parade begins at the front of the park and proceeds towards the castle - so yep - you are right. but still don't forget about checking the small boat launch as you are heading up to the monorail platform.

I second the checking for the small boat launch! We stayed for Spectro one night last year and wanted to get back to the Poly before Wishes. After waiting awhile for the monorail, I realized we weren't going to make it when I noticed the small boat launch. We ran down and jumped on, and even though we didn't make it back to the Poly in time, we got a great view of Wishes from the boat! It was a welcome surprise to watch it from the water (until our boat somehow got stuck in the sand in front of the GF for about fifteen minutes and we weren't able to move!) :confused3

It was one of those days because earlier that day, our monorail was stuck on the track waiting for clearance for a good fifteen minutes, and when we got to the MK and headed to POTC, we got stuck on that ride as well! We laughed about it, because it was the very beginning of the ride where "dead men tell no tales" keeps repeating over and over again and it's dark...it was funny to watch all the CMs walking around with flashlights trying to get the ride going again. We were just about to go over the falls too! Luckily about 20 mins later, we were on our way and after that day, nothing malfunctioned! Sorry a little off topic, but thinking about this brought back some great memories from last year! :goodvibes

Great pix. Looks like you stayed in a Tahiti room close to ours. The week we were there EWP seemed to stop just after the point so we could see some of it but not all. Wonder if they were doing things a bit different that week becuase in your pix EWP is easy to see. I totaly agree with you on the view. IMO tahiti has the best MKV in all of WDW. In CR you can see the parking lot below. At GF wishes is to the left of the castle and you view is a little off. From Tahiti is dead on for Castle, space mountain and CR totally stunning at night! Spot on for wishes. Can you tell I love Tahiti :) lol
