Aloha! ***Welcome to the NEW Poly FAQ***

Thanks everyone for the welcome and the information. The trip reports and reviews are alot of fun. I can't seem to get enough. Anyway, with your advice I've decided not to bother looking into a suite. We'll be fine with 2 rooms. It seems that the views from the Hawaii building are awesome, and it's conveniently located. I realized today that I'd already booked around an additional $2K in extras(luau, spa for MIL, segway tour, aquaseas, fantasmic, breathless for illuminations) besides the dining plan. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

I like the idea of not even making a request and just see what luck brings our way, but I don't want to spend our magical getaway looking at asphalt, dumpsters, and paint.

Advice?

That's what we do....let the Tiki gods decide. I do request first floor as we like that best at the Polynesian (the only resort at which that's true for us). We've always been very pleased.

Hi everyone! I just booked my first trip to the Polynesian! I received a 40% off code and thought I'd splurge. Thanks for all of the great info. :goodvibes

Congratulations!:cool1:

Sounds like a fantastic trip!:dance3:

Robeck -- you will love the Breathless! In over 15 trips (I've lost count now), that is my absolute favorite thing I have ever done at Disney! We were lucky enough to get the Breathless on Christmas night last year - it was fantastic!

Great explanation and I would add (in my most jaded, cynical voice), it is merely another way to jack more $$ from your wallet for an already pricey view. Most of the views from the LV side of Hawaii are perfectly fine. Disney is attempting to gain more profit by hawking the rooms that are considered "perfect" views of the castle. . .we discussed this quite a few pages back if you were interested in other's opinions on the recent room category addition. ;)

I missed the earlier discussion on this topic and I have to admit my laziness in searching that out before my post. My reservation is cash and DVC points linked together so I don't think I can upgrade the points portion if I wanted to. I don't think it's worth the additional cost for us to upgrade anyways. I did, however, put in a request for a higher level floor, so I am curious to find out if this new booking category will effect that.

Not this weekend but the next coming weekend my family and I are going to be back at WDW and even though were not staying at the Polynesian we do plan to visit it a few times, since it's very easy coming from the Contemporary via the Resort Monorail. Anyway one location we will be planning on eating there is the Kona Island Sushi Bar, because we think the Sushi tastes amazing and it's worth the wait if the bar area is full.

Hope you have a great trip CR Resort Fan. There is no place like Disney!

Just a quick thank you for all the help on these boards. Leaving tomorrow morning for 3 nights at Beach Club and then "home" to the Poly. Aloha everyone.

Hava a magical vacation! pixiedust: Make sure you come back and give us a full report!

Safe travels!:goodvibes

I've been gone for over a week on Thanksgiving vacation. Unfortunately, it wasn't at Disney :) But we drove to Dallas to visit some family and that was good!

BreezysMom - LOVE all the photos - thank you!!! Is Breezy doing better yet??? I'm so sorry to hear she got H1N1. I can't get my kids in for a vaccine - every time I call and the health dept has it, they are already booked. I think they fill up faster than Cinderella's table!!!!

Poly has a day bed for the 5th person. It's pretty comfortable for a shorter person (less than 5'10')

Has anyone ever noticed: do they ever have sushi rolls in the grab and go section at Captain Cook's? If not, do you think I could get sushi to go from the Sushi Bar upstairs and take it back to our room or down to CC's (where DH and DD will most likely find what they want for dinner)? I'm a sushi fanatic, and the idea of having it available right there where we're staying is pretty exciting!

Leaving for WDW, staying at the Poly, one week from tomorrow!!!

(We leave on Dec. 9). Can't wait! Our first time at the Poly.

I've really enjoyed seeing all the Poly pics on this thread.

Yes I have seen the pre-packaged Sushi being sold there, however I would rather pay more and it get fresh from the Kona Island Sushi bar and the fact it's much better.

If you wanted a fairly quiet and private location, would you choose first floor or third? Does walking out your patio onto the beach make up for potentially having other guests right outside your room?

It's our first stay at the Poly and I am having my last minute pre-room request debate. :)

Thanks!
