Holy Cow! :scared1: Hadn't planned on an hour.... do we save any time by leaving from ticket and trans?

As far as I can remember, there are no buses to DTD from the TTC. WHen we went to DTD last April, we stopped at GF first, then off to DTD. There is a lot of traffic. It took close to an hour. On the way back, it was about an hour and 20 minutes! We stopped at every little stop in DTD, then stopped at Typhoon Lagoon, then dropped people off at the CR, then to the Poly. My DS was mush by the time we got back! People had told me ahead of time to do a taxi, but I figured I'd try anyway. It took as long as everyone had warned me about!

Absolutely correct...no buses between DTD and the TTC.

We stayed at the Poly a few years ago, but I remember the bus trip from the Poly to DTD taking forever. It might have been because it was the end of the week and we were tired. But it just seemed long. If we end up going during our next trip, I think I'll just suck it up and pay for a cab. The bus to AK also seemed to take a good long time, if I recall. But we're going to do a split stay with the AKL and go to Animal Kingdom when we're there rather than take the bus from the Poly. I do love the Poly and will be thrilled to stay there - the parks we spend the most time at are MK and Epcot, so it's perfect for those parks. But the bus transportation for the other parks can be rough.

I really thought I had read somewhere that there was a "friendship" launch from the Poly directly to WL. I'm trying to figure out quickest way to get to our ADR at the WL. I read the transportation wizard, but it did not mention a launch? Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

We just took the boat to the MK and then the WL boat over there. There not a Friendship boat between the two resorts.

It did not take us that much time :goodvibes

Depending on the weather--it might be really enjoyable to take the boat. Sometimes, I've got to remind myself to slow down, and smell the roses!:lmao: It isn't always--"Move troops, Move, Move, Move"

hmmm ...we are planning to hit seaworld one day and then head over to DTD for Trex... I was told I could get a lynx bus to seaworld and then take a bus to DTD and get a bus back to the POLY....Now I am rethinking this after reading the previous posts. What do you guys think? I can't imagine three kids in bus for an hour and a half!! We are eating at T rex at 7pm...

I definitely wouldn't do that complicated transportation plan.

Just get a cab, at least from DTD back to the Poly. It will take <20 minutes and probably cost $20.

Are taxis standing by at the Poly or do you have to call ahead of time? I will need a taxi from the Poly, need to be at Typhoon Lagoon by 6am for the surf lessons at the wave pool.

I also thought about getting a cab/taxi from the Poly to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios in the mornings, and from Animal Kingdom Lodge back to the Poly.

There were taxis waiting when we stayed at the WL and the AKL. I would imagine they have them at the Poly as well. Our next trip is a split stay and I plan on using a cab to get from the AKL to the Poly. That way I know our luggage will get there when we do:goodvibes.

The few times we've had to go from one resort to another, it's always been easier to take a cab, unless both resorts are connected by the monorail or a park with boat transport (like the WL and the Poly). And if I had to be at DTD at a specific time, I'd definitely take a cab. I'm considering it when we go to DHS as well. We'd probably only go there for one day, and the bus can be long. It will depend on how cheap I'm feeling at the time.

Not so sold on the DXDDP either - we were 6 adults. We had more than enough to eat with the regular DDP, even using 2 for the SOA dinner show.

I can't offer any insight on the room view issue, since our first Poly stay is still a couple months off, but the DxDDP isn't so much about the quantity of food IMO. It is more about a difference in the type of food, at least for my family.

With the standard DDP we had plenty to eat, so much that we didn't really feel right with adding OOP TS meals because we knew it would mean CS credits would end up wasted. So that meant not doing character breakfasts because we're light eaters in the morning and didn't feel it was a good use of our TS for the day, not doing signature dinners because they're such a poor use of credits, eating CS we real don't enjoy because it is included, etc.

On the deluxe plan, we still eat 2 meals per day, usually a character breakfast or TS lunch followed by a signature dinner or a show, order room service on our resort/free day, booking CRT or Brown Derby rather than a less appealing one credit alternative, using snacks without regard to number or value, etc. The main advantage of the deluxe plan is flexibility - we can make the plan fit our dining preferences, rather than adjusting our preferences to fit the basic plan.

That is exactly the way I was looking at it. It's not so much that I want MORE food. I just want to be able to do those signature restaurants and not have to eat counter service in order to do it. Also, because it is just the two of us and kind of a very late honeymoon I just want it all to be perfect. I think that is why I am over analyzing every decision from the resort choice to our potential dining choices, even though it is still 10 months away....

I'm going to drive myself crazy!

With that being said if anyone has any ideas on how to add small surprises to allow it to be extra special I would really appreciate it.

Thanks guys!

Stacy

We walked to the TTC from our Tokelau room and then took the Lynx bus #50 a few weeks ago to Sea World. It is 2.00 per adult and kids free. It was about 1/2 hr to Sea World. I don't know anything about taking a bus from SW to DTD, but your plan sounds OK to me. It's definitely your cheapest option.:cheer2:

We took the monorail to the Contemporary and then took the boat launch from there to the WL. We weren't sure what to do but this worked fine.

I just upgraded our May trip to Poly - Club Level!

We are going for our second anniversary and the upgrade is a suprise for my husband - i'm very excited!!!

just had to chime in!!!

It looks like on the front page you didn't have any pictures listed for Tuvalu - Here are a couple from room 1401 Garden View in May 2009 (we stayed in Tahiti 3001 in Sept 2009 but i forgot to take pictures!!! :scared1: )

No, it was not included. It was from a drink I purchased (for around $8-$9) but I cannot remember the name of it. It was yummy. The galss is plastic BTW, but makes a nice souvenir, which is why I put the lei in it. Looks pretty cool, IIMSSM. DD#1 got the drink in the coconut shell that is a bank. She took it home and is usung it to save up for our next trip "home".

The drinks that come with dinner are: "Bud and Bud Light Draft Beer, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, Tea (hot or iced), Coffee, Milk, Pink Lemonade, Sprite, Coke, and Diet Coke. Tropical Cocktails for purchase."
(from WDWinfo)

Thanx for that :) Me and DF are contemplating SoA as we are going to upgrade to the DXDP and if we do book I have to get me one of those cups (I am a sucker for souvenirs like those) :)

Hey Guys! This is more of a what would you do question...

I booked the Polynesian Theme Park View bounceback (free dining offer) on my last trip. This trip is just going to be my husband and I. We have never actually been on a true vacation alone together. It seems like every time we book something someone else comes along for the fun. We got married this past March on a cruise ship, so we even had 14 people tagging along for our honeymoon! I am beyond excited that this trip will just be the two of us!

With all of that said I have gone back and forth on whether or not I want to keep this view or do one of the following...

A) Keep what we have.

B) Change the reservation to Garden View Club Level for a few dollars less.

C) Downgrade to Garden View and upgrade the dining plan to deluxe, so we would be able to take advantage of many of the 2 credit "nicer" dinners.

Any opinions from true Poly lovers would be appreciated!!!

Thanks so much!

Stacy

At most WDW resorts I don't pay more for the view; however that isn't true for our Polynesian stays because there's nothing like seeing the castle first thing in the morning, and watch it change colors late into the night. Not to mention the excellent view you'd have right from your room, of the fireworks. :3dglasses

Having said that, if you think you'd never be in your room to see the fireworks from there, or if the idea of waking up to the castle and the lagoon and all of the sights and sounds that they offer doesn't excite you as much as the club lounge or deluxe dining would, then I'd recommend changing from TPV to something else. :)

It's a tough choice, but a fun one. :cool2: Try and consider whether you'd still do some nice sit-downs with your current plans, or whether you'd solely stick to the dining plan and have to miss out on the nicer restaurants. Each of us have things (view, resort, meals, etc) that take higher priority over other things. For me, as much as I love the view from the Polynesian, if it meant that I couldn't or wouldn't dine at my favorite restaurants, then I'd probably drop the view. OR, I'd choose a couple of my favorite restaurants and keep the view. See? Tough decision... LOL

So, to give you a more specific answer, if you're looking forward more to your dining experiences rather than room/view experience, I'd choose your Option C. ::yes:: And you'll STILL be at the Polynesian, so it's all good! :thumbsup2
