Sounds fabulous!

From what I understand the menu is still the same but there may be minor variations from time to time.

Have fun planning :wizard:

Thanks, BreezysMom! :)

Good to see you!!

Aww, thanks David! Can't wait! :goodvibes

And I promise not to scream when I see you... well.... not too loudly anyway. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies folks. Would it be quicker if we were to take a bus from the TTY?

IMO the bus service to DTD from any resort is awful. We end up not going to DTD much anymore because of this (you'd think they would have great service since it's all shops and stuff). When we do, which isn't often, we sometimes choose to take a taxi if we can't deal with the wait.:confused3

We are due to hit the Poly for the first time during the last week of April and I am reading the Unofficial guide to Disney World. It gives a time of 54 to 75 minutes to get from the Poly to DTD using Disney transportation! YIKES! I love staying on Disney because I don't have to drive and my family loves DTD. Please help me feel better about the commute!
Thanks
John

Hi John,

We took the bus to DTD last year and on the way down it was about 45 mins. We stopped at the GF first then were on our way. On the way back, however, was a different story. First we made three different stops within DTD area, then stopped at the water park that is not Blizzard Beach, (duh, I am drawing a blank...someone help me here!), then we stopped at the CR, then our stop. It took about an hour and 15 minutes. It was a looonng ride back. :sad2:

PS...hi mmmears! :wave2:

I have found transportation to/from DTD to take very long. I think I heard that they plan it this way so there is not a quick easy way to get from DTD to theme parks, so people don't use the free parking at DTD to avoid parking fees. Don't know if that's true or not.

I do know that after a couple of frustrating bus trips from dTD, it is now the one WDW destination that we always use our car to drive to, unless we are staying at POR/FQ (boat transport is nice).

Soooooo....about the transportation to DTD...would it be just as quick to catch a bus to the POFQ via TTC and then take the boat?

There are no buses from the TTC to the other WDW Resorts, if you wanted to do that you would need to take the Resort Monorail to the Magic Kingdom and get on the POFQ bus.

We're still working on the plans for our trip in July! :goodvibes (You all have no idea how badly I need this trip! LOL

Anyway, we'll definitely be only a party of 5, and not 6, so we're looking at getting just 1 room, but booking a concierge room. :woohoo:

I'm wondering if the lounge menu from Tess from last fall is the most recent listing of what's offered throughout the day. I think we'll be booking a lot of table service restaurants anyway, but we always liked to stop in for a quick "appetizer" and drink before we head to dinner.

I can't wait to go! It's going to be a family trip for our 10th anniversary; DH, DS21, DS18, DS18's GF, and myself. :grouphug: On the day of our actual anniversary we plan to spend it mostly at the resort, drinking frozen drinks at the volcano pool, and then have dinner at the castle. :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

We'll be there around the same time for our anniversary and DD's graduation! We're so excited!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I also found the bus transportation from DTD to the Poly to be quite long. We have our car when we go, so we drive everywhere the monorail can't take us. However, this particular evening, I wanted to do some more shopping and the kids and DH were ready to head back (and go to the pool again I think), so I told them to go ahead and I'd just take the bus. This was my first and only experience with bus transportation at Disney. I waited about 15 minutes or so for the bus? maybe longer, I know a lot of buses came and went in the meantime. Then the ride was probably about 45 minutes. Don't remember where else we stopped, but it seemed to take quite awhile. It wasn't awful, but I was also alone, didn't have to worry about the kiddos. I tend to get motion sick on buses and by the end of this ride, I wasn't sick, but I was ready to get off, I could feel it coming on. Made me so glad we have our car!

We're starting at the Dolphin on the 8th then moving to the Poly on the 15th until the 19th. We'll be staying concierge as well so I'm sure we'll see you all in passing! And we're just north of you in Vermont! My sis lives and works in Boston - so "Hey neighbor!"

How dark and how fast is the slide in the volcano pool? We really don't like tight, dark slides. Fast is okay. Is it a long ride? Also, have you ever tried to swim on a hot summer afternoon and found the pool too crowded? We would be going in August, unless we chose the Dolphin. The deal breaker right now is the fact that we think the Dolphin has a better pool system, but the Poly has a better beach.

Since we are on the topic of Disney transportation, I have a few more questions...:)

1) How long does it take to get to Animal Kingdom in the mornings on the bus?

2)How about DS? I am most concerned with DS because we only plan one day there, yet we LOVE TSM and know if we don't get there at rope drop, we may only get to ride it once. I hope to catch the bus and make it by rope drop. Is the bus from Poly or the TTC going to be quicker? How long does it take? I think UG said 20-40 minutes....

3) This may be a silly question, but what order does the resort monorail pick up guests? I am "thinking" it is GF, Poly, TTC, CR and then MK in that circle but I can't remember from our last trip. We took the monorail to Poly for dinner from MK and it seemed we went in that order but now I can't remember????:confused3

4 more days and DH and I will be there! So excited!!!:goodvibes

I cant wait to take the monorail, the boat and walk to TTC. All these transpo options

Sunshine, we drove to Ak from the Poly so I don't know how long the bus takes.

The bus from Poly to DHS was just 15 minutes for us, but we may have been lucky in that the bus to DHS arrived at our stop shortly after we did. It went straight to the park after the Poly. If you really want to be there at rope drop I would be at the bus stop 40 minutes before rope drop, just to be sure you do not just miss a bus. The trip back to Poly was longer because we stopped at the CR first.

The resort monorail runs opposite how you describe. That is the direction that the Express monorail runs from TTC to MK but it does not stop at any resorts- goes right past them. So the resort monorail goes MK, CR, TTC, Poly, GF, MK. And there are no silly questions!

The bus to AK takes about 40 mins from the poly! That would be waiting and the ride! Making it back to the resort varies! I have waited as much as am hour for a bus to come and then the ride back, which takes you to CR first. In my opinion that is the second longest wait for transportation. The first is of course downtown Disney. :rotfl2:

OMG.

This is such an amazing quote. I think I need to put that in my sig line. Where's that "I'm Not Worthy" smilie ...

As someone that has never stayed at the Poly (though we pretended to last trip by stopping by to hang out at the beach several times...) I need to know what is in a Lapu Lapu? I don't think I can wait till September to find out!
